Escobar murdered because of own goal.

The stuff I can't stand is the crap where a player looks as though he must have been shot, he's in so much agony, and then a few seconds later they're sprinting all over the place. The acting just p*sses me off.

The game is a lot like hockey, but it's WAY slower because of how big the field is. I'll stick with hockey.

I hear this argument all of the time, but I hear it from the people that also use the phrase, "its just part of the game" when they talk about things that people don't like in other sports.

For example: how often do receivers act like the defense should have pass interference called against them? You know, the little "throw the flag" motion?

I have at least seen a yellow card given for diving in this World Cup. I'd wish FIFA would come down harder on it; they always say they will but never do.

Yet another reason not to watch that joke of an activity emerges yet again. You never hear of basketball players getting murdered because they miss a shot, or never hear of field goal kickers getting shot because they miss a game winning kick. Nope, but of course in soccer, the losers who take it way to seriously because their lives are pathetic murder an innocent man because he made a mistake. What a joke of an activity. I'm cheering for the U.S. to lose because I don't want the violence associated with soccer to become apparent in the United States. Anyone that plays and/or enjoys watching it deserves to go to jail.

Oh, that and it's boring as well as borderline mentally retarded.

You pretty much gloss over the most important points:

1. The player was playing for Colombia.
2. Colombia is a highly corrupt country run by drug cartels
3. Many of these senior leaders of said cartels had some massive bets placed on that game.

Please don't try to lump soccer into your grossly stereotyped and bigoted bubble. Any sports team from Colombia would fall into those same pitfalls. Also, you're an idiot if you think the same things are bound to happen in our nation. Colombia and the United States are two different worlds.. no need to be so ignorant of reality.

Fail.

I'm not going to quit betting on football since some guys have been killed because of it.

PS - If you ever get engaged you can't buy her a diamond.

The reason most people hate soccer is because they don't know the rules or understand the game. I used to not like it but once I got into and understood what it is about it's a pretty fun game to watch. Most people in the US are too closed minded to try to get into it though.

This is exactly right. I like to say that no one has to like soccer, but if you don't like it then chances are you don't understand it.

That is a really great argument! You make excellent points! However, I have to disagree with you, I'm sorry. Just because someone likes something doesn't mean that they don't understand it, again not trying to offend you. Like...I don't like licorice, but that doesn't mean I don't understand it! HAHA! I've given soccer plenty of chances but just haven't gotten into it! Have a nice day.

LOL

I know i will get sick of CWB's schtick in about a day but its pretty funny right now

I honestly don't see why CWB was banned because of this. I didn't really see anything bad in all of it but hey that's just me.

CWB: we get it, you hate soccer and everything it stands for. Except that does not explain your apparent need for every member of HawkeyeNation to agree with your opinion.
