Eno Benjamin: The One That Got Away

It isn't simply complaining if the recruiting process is bungled by the coaching staff. Such things can be identified and changed. Problem is, they aren't, because Kirk and staff live in a bubble of safety with few identified goals (accountability) or supervision from the AD. There's your problem.

Kirk and son, by their words and actions, demonstrate over and over that they aren't accountable to anyone, other than themselves. Self-regulation = mediocrity = self preservation

It isn't that complicated, it is simply ignored.
I Say WELL said.. I shall drink to that.Dave's! Opens in 23 long minutes in Eureka Ca. A real happy hour. 1/2 price cans of Rolling Rock. Go Very Tough Hawk Players. CJ and George+ Gregg played well. No o-line. Bad.. Niners had full off season to improve??.. Gm !!!''

I heard there was a different reason he went to ASU.

They have these at Iowa too you know..

Much of the blame falls on the guy at the top, Kirk. His arcane rule prohibiting recruits from taking all of the visits the NCAA allows once they've committed has rubbed more than one kid the wrong way. It was on the Head Coach to talk to Eno and clear up the situation, not the random position coaches who have no pull with the program.

Eno now has eclipsed 200 yards early in the 3rd quarter.

As for Willies, he currently plays for the Cleveland Browns. Would have been fun to see what he could do in black and gold as well.

Eno was lost because of issues that assistant coaches caused. Can't really lay that on Kirk (well, YOU can).

Willies is on the roster for Cleveland. He has played in all four games but has no receptions or targets. (At least according to the Brown's official stats)

This one is different because the Iowa staff’s lack of communication cost us a great back. I agree though, when it comes to guys like Willies I could care less.

It wasn't their LACK of communication. It was their MIScommunication. Saying one thing to the recruit and the opposite to your boss is not a lack of communication.

Stop with the Eno Benjamin threads. It's ridiculous. We have good running backs. He would have been behind Wadley and Butler last year. He's no savior because he ran all over a terrible defensive team. Give me a break.

Here another stat for you. ENO BENJAMIN HAD 27 YARDS IN 13 CARRIES AGAINST MICHIGAN STATE!!!!!

When he played against a real defense...gee...how'd that work out. The Great Eno Benjamin...2.1 yards a carry.

Current stats from the NCAA FBS show that Michigan St is ranked #28 in defense. Oregon St is ranked #128. To put a little context Northern Illinois is #42, Iowa St is #31, and Wisconsin is #17. This is out of 129 FBS schools. (UNI is #32 in FCS.)

Yes, Eno is a good back. But let's not anoint him as the Heisman winner just yet.

Knight - I encourage use of stats to support an argument, but you bungled your attempt royally. To downgrade Benjamin's performance, you arbitrarily looked at Iowa's opponents' total defense ranking?

If you followed Pac 12 football, you would know that ASU has already played against Michigan State, San Diego State, and Washington this year. Wouldn't it make sense to post how well those teams play against the run?? Benjamin has actually played against the toughest competition of any back in the country thus far. Here are their NCAA rushing defense rankings. OUCH.

#1. Michigan State
#2. San Diego State
#41.Washington

All are better than Wisconsin. Two are better than Iowa. Any questions?

Their rushing rankings are skewed because ASU couldn't rush for shit against them. You do know how stats work right?

Eno picked up another 120 yards last night against #20 ranked Colorado. Fellow Hawk de-commit Frank Darby had 131 yards receiving. That's a lot of skill position talent that slipped through our hands.

How many yards did Eno have yesterday against Minnesota? 0...right, why do I care? Stop crying over spilled milk.

My god, let's focus on the players we have. You realize every college team comes down the end and a recruit may chose another team. Sure, there were some extenuating circumstances with this one...but honestly...who cares.

You forgot the most important stat ... of course.

AZST 21
COL 28

which team does Eno and Frank play for.

I predict that 4 years from now, we'll be reading about what job Eno took after he got out of college, and how that job is better than the jobs taken by the graduating Iowa RBs. Some people just can't let go.
