So true. I bought the pic of the stadium from the 2006 OSU Gold Rush. It is the huge one. $200.

I have also seen pics from 2007 Gold Rush vs Syracuse and more recently 2009 Blackout vs Michigan. They make tons of money off these overhead stadium shots. They do make for awesome pics though!

Depending on what tickets we get, I have a ponchos that are gold to wear. It doesn't beat the reversable hoody, but it will keep me warm enough for the night game!

No, you're dead on. Enough already with the "over-thinking it". Just wear black and gold and be done with it. I thought we were above these kind of gimmicks to generate excitement.

An ALL-Gold stadium looks awesome...not unlike the sea of red at Wisconsin or Nebraska.

The Mega-crackdown... multiple color scheme games... they just can't keep their damn hands off of a successful thing. Don't screw it up!!!
 
never mind the fact that general admission student seating pretty much eliminates any color scheme that's not uniform.
 
The easiest way to do this now and in the future is to make "t-shirt size" a requirement on all season ticket forms, add a nominal $5 fee for all season ticket orders, and send one shirt of the right color with each season ticket.

Plus with that you are also throwing a bone to the season ticket holders by letting them have a somewhat unique shirt. Each year there could be a different "official" season ticket holder shirt.

and to take the idea one step further, make it reversible? for the other games we celebrate. I also think that some people are superstitious and have a certain shirt/jersey/hoodie they enjoy wearing. i used to be that way, until i wore my Dallas Clark jersey to the Western michigan game, needless to say its now retired.

Good thing the student section IS uniform, black is the color.

For the last time, this isn't about generating excitement, its not about cheering louder, it has no effect on the game. Its about looking cool on TV, looks good to the recruits, makes the fanbase look good.

Get with the program already and stop whining about it.
 
Even KU gives out shirts on the first game of the year, Blue with the season sched. and picture of a helmet on the front, Addidas logo on the back. You would think Nike would do something like this. I have not been to Kinnick since 1998 so if they do something like this already, my bad.
 
They should just leave a properly colored pom-pom under every seat, then we won't have to worry about what we wear as much. It worked OK for the Mich game last year.
I like the black out, but lets face it, Iowa is 95% caucasion, and that doesn't make it look like it's intended to be.
I hope they can pull this off on Sat, it would be cool, but as the weather temps keep getting lower and lower, I see it not working as well.
 
In response to the email back from the UI athletic department and their marketing response, I just saw on Around the Horn that they mentioned Iowa's black and gold game during their discussion on fan color coordination. Obviously someone dropped the hint to ESPN that this was going to happen and they ran with it. Hopefully all the fans going to the game participate and it will add a boost to the atmosphere when Penn State comes to town Saturday night.
