I actually don't think he's a bad get at all. I'm just offering up a thought process for those that have commented that he doesn't look too good.
Our gain is Lamar's loss. Suck it Lamar!
Mildred's Shimonek commits to play QB at Iowa (UPDATE: Includes quotes from Shimonek) » Sports » Corsicana Daily Sun, Corsicana, Texas
The Hawkeyes play in the Big 10 with the likes of Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State.
At least it wasn't " Iowa plays in the state of Iowa with the likes of Iowa State"thanks for clearing that up.
Boom! who we got?
The smart money is on Nic Shimonek. A Texas QB I've had on radar for quite some time. He's short, but powerfully built and fast. Think "Michael Vick" but without all of the dead dogs in his yard to trip over. Not very accurate but has a rocket for an arm.

I wouldn't call him short. He is listed as being 6'4.
I also wouldn't call him fast - and nowhere close to a Vick type of player. Oh, and he looks to be accurate, but doesn't seem to have a bullet arm.
Don't all QBs look accurate in a highlight film?
Just a quick look at his highlight film:Big frame, has room to add size. Footwork is pretty consistent for HS kid. Release point is pretty low; ball comes out ear level. Does get the ball out quickly when he makes up him mind. Overall delivery is compact. Arm strength looks pretty average, maybe a bit below average; hard to tell from the film. He floated most intermediate throws; never saw him try to throw on a line beyond 15-20 yards. Accuracy is good; does very well with timing based short routes. Showed some good touch on a couple of mid-deep throws. Athleticism is pretty average, won't run away from anyone on a D1 field. Moves well enough to throw from half-rolls.He'll probably grade out as a high 2* or low 3*. Looks like a decent developmental QB prospect.
