EJ TWEET!!!!

I actually don't think he's a bad get at all. I'm just offering up a thought process for those that have commented that he doesn't look too good.

Boom! who we got?

The smart money is on Nic Shimonek. A Texas QB I've had on radar for quite some time. He's short, but powerfully built and fast. Think "Michael Vick" but without all of the dead dogs in his yard to trip over. Not very accurate but has a rocket for an arm.

Is this a joke? Inside source, eh?

EDIT: In fact, he looks to be the exact opposite.

Well, every snap hes taken in the vids is from the gun. Hopefully Iowa is done recruiting shot gun qb's and tucking them under center the entire game and totally handcuffing them.

and he's an all-around athlete:

"having been named district MVP in basketball. Last Saturday, he threw a no-hitter in the Eagles’ 3-0 playoff win over Grandview."

.

I wouldn't call him short. He is listed as being 6'4.

This just seems weird. Guy hasn't even visited the school. They must really see something they like to pull the trigger on a guy like this, this soon. Who the F is Lamar? Maybe he'll be a good one. Four star guys don't always pan out, either.

Just a quick look at his highlight film:
Big frame, has room to add size. Footwork is pretty consistent for HS kid. Release point is pretty low; ball comes out ear level. Does get the ball out quickly when he makes up his mind. Overall delivery is compact. Arm strength looks pretty average, maybe a bit below average; hard to tell from the film. He floated most intermediate throws; never saw him try to throw on a line beyond 15-20 yards. Accuracy is good; does very well with timing based short routes. Showed some good touch on a couple of mid-deep throws. Athleticism is pretty average, won't run away from anyone on a D1 field. Moves well enough to throw from half-rolls.

He'll probably grade out as a high 2* or low 3*. Looks like a decent developmental QB prospect.

Quick Cody Thomas note (to tie up some loose ends from earlier in the thread):

I just read that he is a big-time baseball prospect and was looking for a school where he could play both sports in college. I would be willing to bet that probably disqualified Iowa.

Now back to your regularly scheduled program.

Missed one more important observation. He never took a snap under center.
