If true, he's a dang good QB. Saw him play in a game last fall and he was tearing it up and didn't throw the ball like most HS qb's do.

You'd think if an offer went out to this kid right now.. this early.. it's because they want him.

Perhaps he's gone under the radar in a lower Texas high school conference?

The supposed story is the Iowa coaches told two QBs in Texas they had offers and the first one to commit gets it, the other gets pulled. Apparently Nic won.

And it's best to get to these under the radar guys early when you know that they are a stud, which this guy is. I'm sure he was looking hard at Oklahoma, and when he heard that they got a commit from Cody, he knew that he wanted to go to Iowa instead. I believe Corsicana is a 4A school, so it's not a little po-dunk school by any means. I think they got steam rolled by Aledo which is a football factory in the playoffs last year and not a small school.

He doesn't go to Corsicana though, he goes to a smaller 2A school Mildred.

Sounds like a Colt McCoy type, being under the radar and avg. stars (assuming he'll be a 3* when everyone gets around to rating him) from Texas.

Looks like he has good pocket awareness, but he's slow and has a low release. Didn't see any spectacular arm strength.

Is this the commit?

Corsicana is right up the road from me. Hopefully I'll have a chance to go up and check him out sometime this fall.

Yeah not sure what I think either, guess they didn't feel good about their other options at QB in this recruiting class.

He doesn't look too bad. I think he should fit in well. Another thing one has to think about in terms of the coaches recruiting a QB, if one assumes Rudock is the QB of the future than they probably aren't going to bust their hump off getting a big name QB. If everything plays out Shimonek will be a Jr when he takes the reigns, even with a redshirt. I would guess next years recruiting class they will spend a lot of time bringing in a big name QB.

Exactly, not going to get a great recruit at QB every year especially since the hype on Ruddock is so high. They will recruit a Stanzi type every year and shoot for a big time QB every year, but with expectations of every 3 years or so getting a big name recruit.

The only people who think Ruddock has enough hype to impact recruiting are Iowa message board guys. There isn't a HS in the nation that would be scared of by him.

Just because he hasn't been ranked yet doesn't mean this guy isn't any good. Like Jon points out, this is a guy they specifically targeted early. It is not like they picked this guy up in January as a fallback recruit. If the schools that are listed on his page are truly the schools showing him interest then he must not be too bad.

Exactly. It is not like the guy was a 5 star stud QB, or even 4 star for that matter. Im pretty sure he was a 3 star on Rivals. That doesn't scare anyone off. Especially since no on has seen him play a down of college football.

Sometimes have yo offer early on a undiscovered/future star. Not saying he is but Iowa was the first school to offer Michael Crabtree.
