Eddie Podolak

What was his record as a Senior vs. his record as a Sophomore and Junior? He definitely improved in the pick 6 category, but you can't say he was better as a Senior than he was as a sophomore. He was the same at best. If you feel better about yourself by calling me a joke, but not supporting your answer, then great. I really question your knowledge of football and have to assume you don't know anyone who knows anything about football.

I'm going to feel better about myself and call you a joke too. Stanzi DEFINATELY improved during his career and was a much, much better quarterback when he was a senior than when he was a sophomore.

Nice.

Your trolling performance is simply unacceptable. As your comment demonstrates, your trolling ability has dropped off in this thread considerably, and it is a direct reflection on the way Miller runs this site. Miller is holding back your natural trolling ability, and it just isn't fair to you.

Ghost, you hit the nail on the head...and you are being kind to the troll!

Clearly this is what needs to happen at the QB position next year: JVB at home and Ruddock on the road.

Sarcasm here, people.

I think this coaching staff emphasizes avoiding mistakes more than making plays. If a QB has any maverick in him, they try to coach it out of him.

Yep, and that's what makes them great. They will take a loss rather than letting some kid get lippy. Remember that Pitt game in 2008 where Stanzi was pretty effective in the first half, then he got in Ken's face as they were running into the tunnel and we only saw Jake in the second half? That punishment is what molded Stanzi into the man he became.

A la McCall speaking his mind.

your position on this has me convinced that I am correct. You don't have to follow this board very much to know that very few people on here think much of your opinions.

Our offensive coaches are just miserable. How much do they make? We haven't had a good QB since Banks.......what made him good? He could scramble and create, and still complete a pass. You have to coach this with average JVB talent.

When have we had in the last 13 years a B1G championship caliber QB - NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!

Umm...who's in the NFL, Stanzi or Banks?

His play is PERFECTLY acceptable to O'Keefe and Ferentz. Vandenberg was the heir apparent after Stanzi graduated. Guys that have waited their turn get the nod...Vandenberg will be Iowa's qb until he graduates, simple as that. Ferentz won't even consider replacing him. He will just make excuses for the kid AND the backup QBs at Iowa will not see any reps to prepare them for the future. That just isn't Ferentz's style is it.

Loyalties are much more important than the Iowa football program...much more important, especially when your incompetent best friends are your coahces.

Other than Banks no.

Its coaching. The QB regardless of who it is plays uptight and scared. The numbers get better but they can't function when the pressure is on.

It took them two years to do it to Stanzi but eventually he became scared and uptight by his last year.

100% yes to this. I said it all last year about Stanzi and I've come to realize the same thing about Vandy. He plays flat, no fire. This kid had real talent and could be great. Get him back to why football is fun. Let him unleash. Let him make mistakes.

EYES. Jake could not make the throws that Vandy makes. Just couldn't. I don't see it as being worthy of a debate to even look up the stats.

Jon, would it be fair to say that KOK calls a tighter game on the road and really doesnt know how to coach a qb? I completely agree with your assessment of JVBs talent level, he can make all the throws needed in this offense and can make them well, but he seems to be handcuffed by the play calling. Just imagine what he could do with decent coaching and an offensive scheme that allowed him to open things up a little bit. Oh, and anyone that compares him to Jake C is freaking HIGH
