Other than Banks no.

Its coaching. The QB regardless of who it is plays uptight and scared. The numbers get better but they can't function when the pressure is on.

It took them two years to do it to Stanzi but eventually he became scared and uptight by his last year.

Very well said.

Your a joke if you honestly think Stanzi didnt get better from his first start to his last.

The numbers are better but the offense dosen't function under pressure.

Look at Tate, Stanzi and Vandenburg.

All of their numbers got better but it hasn't resulted in an offense that works when it needs to.

What was his record as a Senior vs. his record as a Sophomore and Junior? He definitely improved in the pick 6 category, but you can't say he was better as a Senior than he was as a sophomore. He was the same at best. If you feel better about yourself by calling me a joke, but not supporting your answer, then great. I really question your knowledge of football and have to assume you don't know anyone who knows anything about football.

He got better from his Sophomore year to his junior year. He became a better passer his senior year but the D let the team down in the 4th in every loss.

Yes he did get better each year.

The offense wasnt the problem for Iowa last year so dont put that on Stanzi. The D was the problem in the 4th last year.

Wins and handling pressure situations. Stanzi had fewer interceptions, but took a lot of sacks in the 4th quarter. He did not handle pressure situations as well as a Senior as he did as a Junior.

Once again he put the team in a spot to win EVERY GAME last year. In every situation the D could not hold on to the lead late in the game.

My original post in this thread was questioning the coaching staff's effectiveness at developing QB's. Stanzi is one of the best QB's in Iowa history. His stats were better from his junior year to senior year. He was less effective at winning games and handling pressure as a senior. This is not an indictment of RS. It is a question mark on our coaching staff.

I think this coaching staff emphasizes avoiding mistakes more than making plays. If a QB has any maverick in him, they try to coach it out of him.

And the end result is usually a loss of mojo at big moments.

JVB (and Stanzi last year) built up an impressive-looking stat line, but when you take a hard look at individual games, you saw tons of hesitation, lack of focus, and failure to pull the trigger in crunch time.

And the result has been 10 losses over two years, most of which were to equal or inferior competition.

Its pretty clear that they do this. I remember back in 08 It was Stanzi's first start I think and It was about half time and Stanzi ran a play when the coaches wanted him to take a knee. He didnt play the rest of the half and even the next game as "punishment".

Playing not to lose has no longer = wins. It seems like the team is now just playing not to lose by alot.

Iowa had the ball with an opportunity to win it or put it out of reach on their last possession in every game.

Doing nothing in the fourth quarter, going 3 and out and punting the ball back to the opponent with a three point lead is not putting them in a position to win.

Both sided of the ball had an opportunity to win every game and both sides failed.

There is now.

Nice.
