Durkin's probably done...

Overruling doctors and forcing injured players to practice was a big reason former Illinois HC Tim Boeckman was launched.

That and the fact that he couldn't coach at this level.

Agree with those that say it's all over but the crying. Dude's been dead man walking since they sidelined him. Hope he saved his $ because he's not getting into coaching pretty much anywhere ever again. I'm talking HS, JR high anywhere I can't see any parents signing off on letting their kids play for him period.

I think the only question right now is can they fire him with cause? Or, what is the settlement? There is no way this guy could recruit going forward. Their roster would have no talent.

I think that termination was a foregone conclusion from day 1.

The university has to cover its bases and go through the process, but a lot of that is simply a formality. Durkin was pretty much doomed as soon as the allegations hit.

Exactly. Freaking Gary Barta needs to take a few notes on how to fire a coach with cause. It aint hard, you just can't be a bumbling idiot about it.

Wow, imagine that, a university doing an actual investigation! State Penn and tO$U please take note. MSU as well.
Yeah big time lawsuits with multiple clients can tend to result in that. MD has by far handled it the best of them.. Their president or head honcho pretty much got up during a pressor and admitted to it all. I'm sure the schools lawyers hated how he did what he did but damn it. He called a spade a spade and started the process of cleaning up the mess. We'll see how it ultimately ends up but he's said all the right things anyway

He does not need to take any notes from Maryland regarding how to run an athletic department, however. I have no idea how things work at Iowa, but they cannot possibly be as bad as that report makes Maryland's athletic department look.

That was Loh who made that comment (former UIowa provost). He messed up too (ignored an anonymous complaint of coach behavior in 2016) and might not survive this. But I agree with you, he did not take the "protect my ass legally" approach, he actually showed some sympathy towards McNair's family and said Maryland failed.
