Predictions for Albany

Alright boys, season is finally here. Let's start some prognosticating and discussions!

A game like this seems like a sleeper. Pretty weak opponent, even by cupcake standards. But, its the first game and with a new QB and second year of a real offensive system, I am excited to see how Gron and the offense look against an inferior opponent out of the gate. I think the offense clicks right away and moves and scores early and often. The defense looks like Iowa's defense. Maybe a few more first downs than we like, but they bend but do not break. Subs galore in the 4th Quarter turns things sloppy by the time I am 6 beers in.

Iowa 34
Great Danes 6

(which actually does not cover the 38 point spread!!!)

My predictions are always so horribly wrong.
So this year, I'm going with an ineffective passing game and an anemic o-line coupled with a strong defense, Iowa wins 23-3. That's 3 safeties, 3 field goals, a Wetjen punt return for a TD with a 2 point conversion off a fumbled long snap that the holder somehow runs in. And they give up a late field goal in scrub time.

Not sure about the score, or why I'm so optimistic about this, but I think we cover. With the preseason hype Gronowski and our revitalized passing game is generating under Lester I think we come out swinging for the fence. We have a good idea what's in the stables at the RB position, but with ISU looming on the road next week I think we open up the play book and look to attack before pumping the brakes a bit on the road next year and go back to our bread and butter of depending on the defense, running the ball to dominate time of possession, and reliance of special teams to get it done in Ames.

Strong take. If only it were not all that far fetched!

41-6. Hawk offense starts slow -- going on Gronowski's own quote this week that 'It may not be pretty at the start; it's our first game of the year' -- or something like that. But the O will get stronger as the game goes on and Lester makes adjustments, and KF will leave Gronowski in for the entire game to get him the reps he needs, which bumps up the score.

35-3

I want to complain about the 5 o’clock kickoff…since I am not going to the game…nothing really to complain about.:)

I wish this game was against a middle-of- the-pack MAC team or against a bottom feeder Mountain West squad. Not going to get anything tangible out of this.

38-9. Iowa will will score, but they aren’t going to open up the playbook too much because of game two. Ferentz isn’t worried about covering the spread.

Three field goals for the bad guys.

38-3. Offense will be decent but leave a lot to improve on. The defense will dominate a weak O-Line for Albany and should have little trouble. But we won't learn a ton from this game.

45-13 good guys. Mark has a couple TDs on the ground and through the air. We'll see a lot of Hank Brown in the 2nd half. We'll see a lot of running backs get touches and WRs on the field. Have your program ready to learn who all is who. KJ Parker changed his jersey to #1. Should be a fantastic day I can't wait
