DUI Checkpoints, take if for what it is.....

I just got this in an email from some Iowa City faithful, they do have some connections, but take this for what it's worth.

1. Park Road – they will be randomly pulling cars into the Hancher Parking Lot
2. Burlington St – at the Power Plant just over the bridge heading east
3. Melrose Ave – University Club parking lot

From what I was told this information has not been released to the press. So if you are a season ticket holder or know a season ticket holder, plan on attending games or tailgating, these are the places to avoid on your trip home. The e-mail I received said that they were not sure if it would be at all games so be on the lookout.

I think rather than having to avoid roads you should probably just be responsible and have a designated driver. Drinking is awesome, dying sucks!

If I read the laws on checkpoints like this, this isn't legal in Iowa. They can have checkpoints to check license and registration, plates, etc., but "Sobriety Checkpoints" are not legal in the state. DUI arrests can be made at L&R checkpoints, but they also cannot stop people arbitrarily. They have to check EVERYONE.

its good to know where they will be but these guys have a point its not worth the risk of driving drunk one for killing someone or yourself OR the huge fine for you just having 8 beers at the game this limit is going to bust a lot of people and it'll be interesting how many of them will be public figures

Great to know, my brother-in-law is partially responsible for the enforcement that weekend, I'll pass along that this has leaked.

Easy to say when you haven't lost someone to a drunk driver. If ratting saves a life I'll be the biggest rat you've ever known.

Well it's going to be called a License and registration checkpoint.

They do these stops here in Des Moines (clive bar area) every couple of months. They announce them and exactly where they will be located, but people still take the chance. They usually sit at an intersection, stop every car, check drivers licenses and in the process check that the driver is not impaired. If your good, your right on your way, if your not or they have any kind of suspicion they direct you over to the side or into a parking lot. If you try to avoid the stops themselves that have patrols on most other roads in or around the area. So either way your taking a pretty serious gamble. Trust me fellas, get yourselves a DD

So now the drunken idiots can avoid getting a DUI and can make it to the interstate to endanger others lives? Terrific.

Drink responsibly and this info isn't needed.

Sober drivers may want to avoid the checkpoints also, it will back traffic up more in those areas.
