Drake game

It absolutely plays a factor in seeding. So whether you think getting into the tourney is almost a formality or not, this is a meaningful game.

Its not going to be a factor because the Hawks RPI will be just fine this year. The site linked in this thread has Iowa's projected SOS at #21 in the country. I should have clarified my first post in this thread more.

Every game is a trap game, is it not? Opponents are always trying to trap you into losing. Damn it, opponents--stop doing that!

Is there any television for this game for people who dont live in Iowa?

If you happen to have a cable provider that offers BTN2Go and highspeed internet, that may be an option. That is what I will be doing--I guess it is better than nothing.

I'm well aware that Iowa's RPI should be fine as far as getting into the tournament. But this would be another top 100 win to pad a resume. The more of those we have, the better our seeding would be. RPI is not the only factor the committee looks at when determining seeds. This could end up being a quality win, which lacked last year almost as much as RPI.

But playing and beating Drake on the road versus a neutral site is not going to be the be all end all when it comes to securing a higher seed, which is what ssckelley was wishing for in the first post I responded to in this thread.

Like I said, just win baby.

This game is going to feel like a road game, 50/50 at best cheering for Iowa. Iowa's weighted win percentage makes a difference as a game at a neutral site counts as 1 win while a win on the road counts as 1.4.

No, it's not a be all, end all. But it still matters for those purposes, which you seem to dismiss because of the B1G schedule. I'm still not ready to count 12+ wins in conference play, so we need to stockpile as many good wins as we can in the OOC. ISU and Drake both represent opportunities to do that.

Do you really believe this? I know Drake is in Des Moines but come on.

I dont know of anybody that is ready to count 12 or more wins in the B1G. Im not dismissing the fact that Iowa needs to beat Drake Saturday. Im dismissing the fact that it would make a difference whether the game is played at Wells Fargo Arena, Knapp Center or anywhere else.

I doubt ISU fans in attendance will be cheering for Iowa. UNI fans won't care either way.

I'm sure some ISU fans will. Last year I didn't see very many Drake fans at all and there were probably as many Iowa fans as there were ISU and UNI fans combined.

Not going to lie. They concern me. Their 7-1, a top 100 team according to Kenpom and after Atlantis and last night I could see us having a let down game. Drake needs this if they are going to get a quality win assuming they have tournament aspirations so they are going to come out tough.

I think it's a close game that helps our RPI in the end.

Actually I think they are 6-1.

Put me down for 14.

There are a lot of bitter ISU and UNI fans out there but not as many as you think. Those people tend to hang out on message boards. I know several ISU grads personally that cheer for Iowa when they aren't playing ISU. Last year I sat near a group of younger ISU fans who were cheering for UNI but as a whole, the crowd was heavily in Iowa's favor.

I hope you are right, it would be nice to have a home crowd. I know there are many Iowa fans from the western side of the state going to be in attendance that normally do not get to Iowa City for games.

There was plenty of Drake fans in attendance last year even with Iowa playing the first game against UNI. Drake was also a few shots awake from beating ISU last year. They shouldn't be overlooked by anyone
