Don't know if anybody cought this................

Let's each of us send a check for $500. to Jon M. to hold onto. If Iowa goes 2-10, you can cash my check; if they don't, I'll happily cash yours...money where your mouth is, big shot.

doclee, what do you think Iowa will end with next season?

I tend to be too optimistic, but...I think we will beat Northern Ill, Missouri State, Iowa State, Western Michigan, Minnesota. If we drop one of those, it would be Northern Ill. I think MSU, NW, and Purdue are toss ups, but I think we win at least one, maybe two. I think OSU will beat us. I think how we do against Michigan and Nebraska will depend a lot on how the early season goes. Down side, 6-6. Upside, 8-4. Way up, 9-3.

I know, right? I mean how dare he make a prediction pertaining to the Iowa Hawkeyes on an Iowa Hawkeye message board. The nerve of some people.

I'll eat a chest hair sandwich if this group of losers goes 9-3 next year.

Dave I think LB could be a strong point this year. I dont think we really know how good they are and wont unless the DL steps up and does their job. We have 4 guys who at times have looked pretty good.

Behind those top 3-4 guys(who aren't all that) take a look at the LB depth.
It is, in all seriousness, high school-esque terrible.
The depth issues there are going to make DE look like a walk in the park in a year or two, maybe as soon as this year if any of those starters get hurt.

I think the difference between DE and LB is LB has atleast above average starters with experience. I agree no depth beyond Quinton Alston, after that is walk-on Travis Perry from Urbandale? But DE doesn't even come close to compare the starters. I wouldn't call Alvis above average, he is average at best. Don't know if he didn't bounce back as well from his injury the year before or what but he didn't show much at all last year.

I can't imagine how well they are going to do but after last season's easy schedule and still only got to 4-8, I don't see them getting much better considering their schedule is a lot tougher in '13. If they can get to 6-6 I wouldn't be happy or impressed but depending on how they played those games and if improvement can be seen on the field then I wouldn't be too mad. I think anything over 7-5 is an extreme improvement considering the further coaching changes, new players and a harder schedule.

Lb has three starters all with at least two years experience, one that is a senior. Compared to all our other positions, except maybe o line, we are deepest here. IMO Davey boy. Don't be hating

What the hell are you talking about? You don't pay very close attention I've noticed. All 3 of our starting LB's are going to be seniors.

As far as depth goes, we're pretty thin at LB, at least as far as proven talent goes. Alston, of course. And then we have Travis Perry, who the staff seems to like if they were giving him as much as PT as they did last season. Marcus Collins could be really good and seems pretty talented, but we haven't really seen him in any extended action to know for sure.

I think we have four solid guys. So health could be a issue. But wouldnt you like to see how much better these four can play if the DL does there job. All good KF teams have a good DL. Thats why I am so concerned about it. More so than QB

So Howe believes Sokol might be the frontrunner, Morehouse gave the impression on his podcast that Ruddock seems to be the frontrunner now (and that Ruddock might actually be mobile), and I believe Jon Miller has said that Beathard might be the guy.

Obviously this will be one of the more interesting QB battles we've seen in a long, long time.

Whoever it is, the bear murderer was so bad last year that it will be difficult to perform worse. For that reason I believe our qb play will be better. How much better I dunno and will leave that to the true HN experts.

I've seen enough to know that Kirksey is the only one of those 3 that is "good". The others are average, at best.

As far as I can see until we start winning again we have 22 positions that we have problems at.

Between KF saying at his season ending presser that all positions were open, the 4-8 record and the new coaching assists I hope that none of the players feel that they're spot is guaranteed and that they come hungry. If not it is going to be another long year for Iowa football.
