Don't Expect Any Protests During National Anthem from Hawkeyes

So, did you ever watch All In The Family? :)

Just after getting out of appendix surgery I watched the rerun of Mike who had an appendix attack. Thought I was going to bust the sutures from laughing and crying. Funny as heck and hurt like hell. Archie was just like my Mom's dad only her dad was meaner. He ended up with a grandson whose father was black.

If you think Married With Children was not politically correct, you ain't seen anything. Here's a couple of quick scenes, including one about the National Anthem. Remember, this is more than 40 years ago.

It's crazy. But it was ahead of its time. Basically showed how stupid racism really is. Definitely pushed boundaries in the 70's.

Yes, it pushed the boundaries. It also shows that people were talking about this stuff even back then. Can you imagine if there was social media back in the late 60's, early 70s? The political environment was tense. Shows like the Smothers Brothers (see below) and All in the Family were trying to bring these issues to the forefront. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

The Brothers lost their show due to their political statements. I guess it just wasn't the place to do it?

Will the Packers pick up Kap?

NFL owners want to do two things...win and make money. If they thought Kap could help them do either, somebody would pick him up.

If the downside is bigger than the upside you don't hire somebody. Pretty basic stuff.

<<Will the Packers pick up Kap?>>

Why? The Packers don't feature a running QB, Kap throws slightly better than Jake Christensen, and besides that, per Kap, the owners are all colluding.

Truth is they probably are. It would have been simpler had he not gotten the 9ers to within inches of a Super Bowl. He isn't that good. Sort of like Tim Tebow in a lot of ways only completely different.

You honestly believe that about business? That's not how business works. There is absolutely no way Kap (as bad as he can be) wouldn't be better than what the Pack has w/o Rodgers. I'd have to believe that fans wouldn't get on board with $$$$ if Kap would win a couple of games. They might bitch, but they'd still come.

NFL has a lot of issues in re to $$$$. Kap and kneeling aren't all that high. Might be a catalyst, but it was coming sooner or later.

Kap only started kneeling after his grip on starting position was reeling. And comparing him to Tebow is ludicrous. Tebow kneels, too. And catches the same amount of crap for doing. From the media. When he prays.

You don't know that about Kap. You might be right. Sometimes failure makes us do greater things. Which is harder? Kneeling when you have a good job and risk it? Or kneeling when you don't knowing you may never get it back.

Not on the same level, but remember when Maher lost his job? He said something like, "Flying a plane into a building is anything but cowardly"? It's a thought provoking statement. Right or wrong I do not know.

On Kap he may go down in history among the great Qbs in name recognition. Whether positive or negative the end is not known.

US Grant was a terrible failure. He even made a lot of blunders in winning.

Look at CJ. As an NFL QB he seriously is not likely to ever be actually good. Can his leadership prevail? Maybe.

What Kap is doing is certainly not cowardly. Maybe he's actually growing up. If he makes it back, I doubt will seen his biceps as much.

<<You don't know that about Kap>>

It's a pretty simple timeline to follow...

Fact is, he isn't a "bad" QB. He's just not good enough for teams to take a risk outside of injury.

Personally, I stopped caring what he does a long time ago. I just hate it when people make guys like Kaepernick, Michael Sam, or Tim Tebow "victims".

Michael Sam: a very undersized DE trying to convert to being an under-motored LB at the highest level. Thanks, media and LGBTQ community, for making sure the kid had no limelight/spotlight, and hence, no pressure.

Tim Tebow: big heart, competitive, faster than you would think, but in reality, still a slow "system" QB with an average arm who makes wrong reads. Thanks, uber-religious community, for trying to make people think his faith, alone, should elevate him to the highest level of football.

Could be. But Kap has made himself a distraction, which undermines his value as a football player. That's why he's not getting signed. If an owner thought he could make a positive splash, they'd sign him. As it is, the perceived downside or risk is higher than the reward. (What the league is telling them behind the scenes, of course, we don't know. Who knows what will come out there)

Yes, the NFL does have more things going on, no doubt. Correlation does not necessarily equal causation.

So many players make themselves distractions. GB against Dallas, the Packer intercepted and returned it for a TD and then threw the ball at the Dallas QB. Instant flag. Remember when flags in that type of situation when the penalty was usually on the frustrated Offense?

That is why football is struggling. Kap is just the lightning rod.

If you see some of the quarterbacks on NFL rosters, it has to make you pause and say Kap is better than that guy. That being stated I have no idea what his demands were/are. Was he willing to take any job?
