Does Megaludis assume the #1 ranking?

1) Waters - undefeated but hasn't faced a tough schedule
2) McD
3) Mega
4) Delgado

Hopefully national duals will shuffle Waters back down to #4 or lower. This will only happen if Missouri makes it to the finals as he won't face any of the top contenders in the regional.

I'm very glad to have gotten this wrong!

Keep in mind, Waters may have to face some tough competition in the National Duals, assuming Missouri gets through this weekend. Provided the favorites win this weekend, seeding in Minneapolis should look like this:

1) Oklahoma State
8) Cornell

4) Ohio State
5) Missouri

3) Minnesota
6) Virginia Tech

2) Iowa
7) Illinois

We could be looking at another Delgado-McDonough matchup in the first round. Assuming Mizzou loses to Ohio State, they'd face the loser of Okie St - Cornell (with Waters going against #6 Garrett). A lot of wrestling still to go, but we could still see Waters go against either McD or Delgado at some point during National Duals.

twade - I'm hoping Oregon State beats VT so Illinois will get the 6th seed. That scenario (using current Coaches Poll rankings) would pit Iowa versus Zalesky's Oregon State in the first round and Minnesota vs Illinois. I'd rather McD not see Delgado again until the NCAA finals :)

I'm with you - the less we see Delgado the better. Let's do a quick prediction for VaTech - Oregon St:

125: Joey Palmer (12-14) vs. #5 Jarod Garnett (22-2)
Garnett will totally outclass the freshman, who's prone to giving up bonus. Garnett by FALL
VA Tech 6 - OSU 0

133: Drew Van Anrooy (17-9) vs. Erik Spjut (11-9)
All 9 of Spjut's losses are to ranked wrestlers and the freshman Van Anrooy isn't in the same league. Spjut by decision
VA Tech 9 - OSU 0

141: #4 Michael Mangrum (31-4) vs. #12 Zach Neibert (15-6)
Neibert hasn't wrestled in almost a month and I'm not sure if he'll be back this weekend. If he doesn't go, VA Tech really has no one else at this weight (when they haven't forfeited this weight, they've trotted out a 133-pounder in Michael Gowen who's given up bonus in 3 of his 4 matches at 141). If it's Neibert, I'll say Mangrum by decision, otherwise it's Mangrum by FALL.
VA Tech 9 - OSU 3

149: #7 Scott Sakaguchi (22-4) vs. #5 Nick Brascetta (25-2)
Brascetta has had a great season, with his only losses to the #3 (Von Ohlen) and #4 (Vinson) wrestlers at this weight. He doesn't put up a ton of bonus and seems to just grind out tough victories. While Sakaguchi is more apt to put up bonus (bonus points in 15 of his 22 wins), he's also doesn't have a resume on par with Brascetta (who knocked off #4 Vinson earlier in the year). For common opponents, Brascetta beat #11 Tessari 5-3 while Sakaguchi lost 5-0. Brascetta also knocked off Montell Marion at Midlands. I think Brascetta grinds out a close win here.

VA Tech 12 - OSU 3

157: #10 RJ Pena (28-3) vs. #7 Jesse Dong (19-2)
The Donger beat Pena at Midlands already this year, 10-6. Plus he's the Donger...he also wins the rematch by decision.

VA Tech 15 - OSU 3

165: Seth Thomas (24-5) vs. #5 Peter Yates (25-1)
Despite the impressive record, Thomas does not have a W over a ranked wrestler. Yates, on the other hand has been dominant with wins over #6 Monk, #7 Sulzer and #8 Polz while also scoring bonus points in many of his victories (4 Pins, 5 TFs and 6 MDs this year). Meanwhile, his only loss has been to the #4 Graham. This match feels like more bonus for Yates and have him getting a MD.

Va Tech 19 - OSU 3

174: Cody Weishoff (16-5) vs. Austin Gabel (15-9)
Zalesky has looked at 3 different guys at this weight, but I think he's finally settled on one in Weishoff. Not knowing anything about either of these guys, I'll give this one to the Oregon State wrestler. Weishoff by decision.

Va Tech 19 - OSU 6

184: #19 Ty Vinson (15-8) vs. Nick Vetterlein (14-9)
These 2 met at Midlands, with Vinson winning 10-8. I'll say Vinson wins the rematch as well by decision.
Va Tech 19 - OSU 9

197: #6 Taylor Meeks (29-5) vs. Derrick Borlie (16-8)
Meeks should have no problem here, but he's probably not getting bonus (bonus points in only 12 of his 29 wins and while Borlie hasn't wrestled anyone of Meeks's caliber, he's only given up bonus in 1 of his losses this year).

Va Tech 19 - OSU 12

HWT: #4 Chad Hanke (29-3) vs. David Marone (13-7)
Hanke should wax Marone, I'll say by MD.

Va Tech 19 - OSU 16

So Oregon State has a chance. They have to hope Neibert can't go for Va Tech (and Mangrum must get bonus if he doesn't). I still like VA Tech's chances to come out on top, but I'll be hoping for OSU.

Hopefully Delgado gets beat by Megaludis.
Delgado's style is something McD can't compete with unfortunately.

Arent' they 2-2 head to head? McD can find a way and needs to find a way. Getting some tips from Tom and good nutrition will go a long ways towards making it 3-2 or 4-2.

I can't believe what u guys are talking about on here. Just like last year when Sanders was ranked number one when Delgado beat McD? I'm late on this but McD ISThe guy to beat and deserved the top spot and he'll prove it. I mean seriously?
