Does CJ Have a Legit Heisman Run?

King wouldn't be even an afterthought save for one fact: he figures in the return game. If the Hawks duplicate last year's regular season, and King has some return TDs, to go with a couple Pick-6s, it would help his cause. But he'd also need to get some reps on O, otherwise, pencil in either Baker Mayfield or whoever the Alabama RB with the most yards/TDs happens to be...

Don't forget about McCaffrey at Stanford. He's going to be in the spotlight for the Heisman this year after deserving it last year with his gaudy stats.

CJ can't even make it through spring practices without getting hurt....so no, he doesn't have much of a shot at the award.

The dude is tough as nails, but he really does break down easily. Give him credit for playing through the pain though.

Where did you see that? Watson has to be the clear #1 and I wouldn't think Kelly from Ole Miss would be behind CJ

I can't find the link but it was on cbs sportsline website showing CJ as second. Other websites don't have him as high but in the top 10. Too early for much accuracy outside of the kid from Clemson.

That's interesting. Miami has a QB that is supposed to be a first rounder next year too and I didn't think CJ was projected that high. Good for him to get that much pub!

I believe the real CJB is what we saw in the Iowa St. game, granted it is just Iowa St. Imo, that is what he brings to the table when healthy. If Rudock is a 6th, then a healthy CJB is at least a 4th

I should clarify. Most other sites show him as a top 10 QB, not a top 10 pick overall. But if that CBS writer is correct he probably would be a top 10 guy.

Dennis Dodd has him as qb #9 for the '17 draft. What's that work out to, maybe a 6th round grade?

If he was an inch and a half taller and 15 lbs heavier, he'd be a first rounder.

That makes more sense. If he was the #2 QB Prospect that would mean he was a first rounder and I don't see that

He is taller than Mayfield, 5 lbs. lighter than Kelly and 10 lbs. lighter than Russell.

I can answer the question in one word: YES. Brad Banks had a legit run. Chuck Long had a legit run. All it takes to have a legit run is to be the QB on the top team in the Big 10, and put up some pretty solid numbers. Is it likely, no. But is it possible, definitely, especially if we beat Michigan and CJ throws something like 5 TDs in the game and one of them is highlight worthy.

You might be right. My point is that if he was 6'4" and 225 lbs. he'd be the prototypical QB and a lock to be a first round pick, with his skill set.

Just saw Desmond King going at #11 overall in an SI mock. He doesn't have 8 ints this year though and his draft stock will fall.

I don't think that'll be the case. I think this years DB class was fairly stacked and next years isn't as much. I don't think he'll be thrown at as much this year hence less Ints. I'll be surprised if gets even close to 5 of them this year. Corner is a position where he can have considerably less stats and still have improved or played better. I'm not worried about him to say the least. CJ will have to really play well and stay healthy to get drafted even as high as JR did... And that blows my mind that he got drafted... JR can't hardly throw an NFL out pattern from the far hash with anything on it. For a guy like him to make it he'll have have pin point timing and accuracy on his throws and he never did get great at that either...

Iowa doesn't have the offensive scheme or the receivers to win ANYONE the Heisman. Nobody is going to get gaudy numbers with this keep it close, don't turn the ball over, win in the 4th quarter mentality.
