I care, but I just can't watch them. After the women's game, when the radio broadcast switched over, I switched to the men's game on the BTN. For some reason, I kept getting distracted. Even when I noticed that I had been wandering in and out of the room and had consciously committed to watching the game, I still couldn't. Think I am in a denial phase, and seeing what has become of the program in the form of performance live on tv is just too real. Since I can't "not care," it is almost easier to pretend that it isn't even basketball season. So, I care, but can't really invest in the team emotionally anymore.

Just an afterthought: I think we all care, or we wouldn't be on the Hawkeye Basketball Forum, right? It has more to do with hope. After a while, when hope becomes distant, the expectation is that things won't end well. With the expectation of failure and lack of hope, I can't get to worked up when they don't do well. I'd like to see an improvement, but my emotions need to be invested in things that last or things that present a hope of a return on the investment. If I want to beat my head against the wall, there are far more direct ways of doing that. :)

THIS!!! You channeled my exact thoughts here!! Right on the money!

I care to the point that I still watch and hope, only to be disappointed. I often have to watch the games on DVR because I am at work. When the game gets grossly out of hand, I start to skip forward hoping to see a run, but it never comes.

This is how I feel right now about Iowa basketball

On the road during the 2nd half listening to Dolph. The kids were in the back of the minivan saying, "Daddy, I'm bored." I agreed with them, and turned on a CD.

I was not shocked to read this morning that Iowa was down by 35 at one point.

I still absolutely care about Iowa basketball, but I'm ready for this season to end.

I ran into some apathy during last night's game. I didn't watch the 2nd half.

This is not a good sign for the program. Spank is a die-hard, hardcore Hawk bb fan and if he turned it off, who stayed with it,besides me,my son and my buddy?
We drank beer to numb the pain. We looked for improvement. We rooted for Aaron Fuller to get the ball everytime down, and for Cully to be ok after he went down.

Honestly, maybe I am sick, but I have watched every single moment of televised Iowa games this year, cept for switching off for the orange bowl game when we played at the illini...watched the replay later.

I admit it, I am addicted to Iowa games..football and bb.
I probably have a problem,eh?

Hell. If we didn't care we would not complain and post so many threads. Hawk fans want the team to succeed and be competitive. Does the coach care sometimes? I hope to think the players do.

Yes. Well said! This is exactly where I am at.

I never shut it off. My wife couldn't understand because I change the channel for every other game that is a blow out.

Apathy is the worse thing that can happen.

I know posters who are critical of the program get scorned from time to time, but we need to keep in mind that at least they (we) still care.

I'll take outrage over apathy any day of the week.

I do know that there is a healthy population of people who spend time on BBall message boards posting all over the place how little they care. That seems to be a contradiction.

I watch everygame, and will continue to watch everygame. I still see some hope next year, but I think Lick will need to make some adjustments. I do think we will be much improved next year, both competively and record wise. We all know that most likely Lickliter will be around next year. If we see much of the same next year a change should be made. Unfortunately i will continue to watch either way. I support the kids in the Iowa uniform.
