I care, but I just can't watch them. After the women's game, when the radio broadcast switched over, I switched to the men's game on the BTN. For some reason, I kept getting distracted. Even when I noticed that I had been wandering in and out of the room and had consciously committed to watching the game, I still couldn't. Think I am in a denial phase, and seeing what has become of the program in the form of performance live on tv is just too real. Since I can't "not care," it is almost easier to pretend that it isn't even basketball season. So, I care, but can't really invest in the team emotionally anymore.

Just an afterthought: I think we all care, or we wouldn't be on the Hawkeye Basketball Forum, right? It has more to do with hope. After a while, when hope becomes distant, the expectation is that things won't end well. With the expectation of failure and lack of hope, I can't get to worked up when they don't do well. I'd like to see an improvement, but my emotions need to be invested in things that last or things that present a hope of a return on the investment. If I want to beat my head against the wall, there are far more direct ways of doing that.
