He'll be gone in a matter of a couple years. This is going to absolutely kill recruiting.
I'm actually surprised they didn't just fire him because of that reason alone. I know they'd have to pay him if they fired him for that, but they'll see more negative long term from this than they will positive, even considering the money.

No doubt. If another coach loses a recruiting battle to that guy....they should quit. Immediately.
It's not even like the dude is a good coach... I mean you were looking for a coach when you stumbled unto him anyway. Bringing him back will just cripple their recruiting and if it don't I'm assuming he's cheating and paying kids to lure them in somehow. The BIG should kick them out for this...

He's the kind of coach that diminishes coaches everywhere and perpetuates the negative stereotypes of the profession. Basically, he embodies all that's bad in the coaching profession. Shame on Maryland, no amount of buy out money should stop them from doing what's right. How can the alumni look themselves in the mirror?
