I'm listening to Good Call and they said Rome picked Iowa vs Bama in the national title game. I thought he hated Iowa? Maybe he's trying to jinx us....
Did Rome really pick Iowa to make the title game?

It wasn't Rome that picked it, it was Ivan Maisel who Rome had on as a guest that picked Iowa and Alabama.

I know Ivan Maisel has picked Iowa v Bama in the title game, but I refuse to listen to Rome. He's a chump and so are all his "clones". Such a stupid show (radio and TV). He did give Iowa quite a few props after the Orange Bowl win tho, so maybe he's coming around.

i didnt' hear the interview but how did sound--- did it sound sincere or did it sound like a set up--- (so if it doesn't happen he could go back to hat'n on us again and say "see iowa, see i believed in you , and you let me down never again, blah blah blah )

No. You have to go into the jungle to get the so called "Karma." You can't just be talked about there.

Kirk hasn't "always" stiffed him...it only took one time, leading up to the 2003 Orange Bowl. If Kirk were to give it a response, I'd bet it was because Kirk felt he needed to show ESPN some loyalty after ESPN ran Iowa games all season that year so Rome was left out of the rotation...and Rome is notorious for holding grudges.
Edit: By the way, another post was saying Rome showed Iowa some love after the Orange Bowl last season...that wasn't love for Iowa...Paul Johnson must've turned him down pre-bowl game as well. Rome didn't give Iowa much love as much as he gave hate for Georgia Tech.

Kirk went on the record once that he likes to do interviews with people who do their homework like Chris Fowler and a few others. He said it in a nice way and I wish I could find it it but he basically said he wouldnt be going on the Jim Rome show anytime soon.

I didn't hear the interview, but having listened to plenty of praise for Iowa from Ivan Maisel in the past, this is not a 'set up' by any means.
IIRC, he even picked Iowa as an early favorite to contend after last season ended.

Not a big Rome fan but do turn over when Cowherd starts one of his obnoxious rants. Did hear Rome last week say that he likes the Iowa program. A little shocked when I heard it as he has been Hawkeye bashing in the past. I think it is a couple things. The B10 is considerably tougher these days, a good sustained run of W's for the Hawks, and least of all he is a talk show host. They are bigger band wagoners than are fans. Any love for USC or Florida this year?

Rome had to give us props after ESPN had us in their title shot scenario. He's no dummy when it comes to "I said in August.." Let's hope he jumps on our wagon as we can always use some good press even if it's from him. Can't say that if I were Kirk that I would ever give him an interview as he is out there in his comments and attitude. Kirk is old school and has respect for media that doesn't try and make a name by bashing schools to get ratings. The more good press we get, the more those voters in the polls can be swayed to our way of thinking. Social media is powerful as well, the BCS voters are always looking and can be swayed if we keep after it!
