Dickerson Thinks Atwood Will Commit

-Atwood has a filled out 6’8 frame and has the intangibles we need more of: Strength, toughness, fire.
-Has an excellent midrange jumper (which he can shoot off the catch or dribble)
-Shoots the 3 well
-Drives very strong to the hoop
-Gets to the foul line a lot (Is a good foul shooter as well)
-Ability to create his own shot
-Decent Passer

After watching these videos, I'm sold. I know it's only few minutes of video, and they can be misleading sometimes, you can see this kid has shooting and athleticism that we desperately need.

He does a couple of things our bigs did not do well....puts it on the floor well, and makes jumpshots....please come to Iowa, Willie!!

lol. Yeah, no.

The amount of people thinking a couple juco's (along with a pretty bad HS recruiting class) will take us to the promised land is humorous.

Sorry to burst bubbles.

Perhaps it will take us to a bit higher level of mediocre, but that's about it.

You're not bursting bubbles. You're just wrong. This is a talented, deep roster that can most definitely compete for a conference title. The shortsightedness of some - many - people is stunning.

after watching those videos, one thing is an absolute sure thing....they need to invest in a new camera man

Either that, or it was a Filmmaking I class project at Connors State Junior College, and this was one particular student's artistic impression of an otherwise pedestrian JUCO game. If so, I'd recommend that student embark on another field of study. I wasn't feeling it.

what is humorous is when trolls fail.

Pardons for hijacking a thread, but this is just nonsense.

I still say we'll be a better TEAM without Marble...he took too many shots. So I don't think it's unrealistic to believe we can be as good next year as we were this....just without the collapse at the end.
Can we just stop with the Marble took too many shots urban legend.

It's simply false.

Here are some randomly chosen teams with their highest shot takers compared to percentage of overall team FG attempts.

Marble (Iowa) -- 21.9%

Harris (MSU) -- 21.7%

Adams (UCLA) -- 19.5%

Bairstow (NM) -- 23.0%

McRae (TN) -- 24.8%

Paige (NC) -- 21.1%

Smith (LOU) -- 21.1%

McDermott (Cton) -- 35.8%

* * * *

Now here are the same teams and the number players with +240 FGA (which includes the three "key" players on Iowa.

Iowa -- 245 -- 240
MSU -- 328 -- 285 -- 255
UCLA -- 366 -- 281 -- 279
NM --- 351 -- 337
TEN -- 366 -- 279 -- 247 -- 236
NC --- 378 -- 265 -- 264
LOU -- 357 -- 295 -- 291

1. Those three were the only players on Iowa to have more than 200 FGA.

2. So for Marble shooting roughly the same percentages as other top FG "attempters", he did not have the support from the 2nd/3rd scoring options like every other one of these players had (other than McDermott who no one says shot too much).

3. The 2nd/3rd scoring options on Iowa played 30+ min/pg just like every other 2nd/3rd/4th scoring option of the other teams.

Dev Marble didn't have the scoring threats to help him out like other teams had.

Yea but it isn't fair. Everyone on the team should get their share of shots too. I have a feeling Fran will be hearing from some unhappy parents this summer.

I dont have a problem with what marble did offensively i just wonder if the team might gel bettee being forced more to work together to cme up with the lost production. Other players have trouble staying on their game if their not seeinf the ball sometimes.

We will probably lose more games without scoring of marble. However you wonder if itll help them with scoring droughts if know they cant just rely on one guy to get it done.

But, as illustrated above, Marble didn't take an unusual share of shots for a team's best player. Michigan State seems to have gelled just fine despite Harris taking a nearly identical share of shots. Tennessee and Louisville are in the Sweet 16. And nobody would suggest that Paige is a ballhog. He takes the shots because he has to. Just like Marble, IMO. He didn't get the kind of support he needed, either because some guys weren't aggressive enough, or other players in the rotation were taking too many shots. Maybe a bit of both. But the best player taking around 20% of the team's shots isn't unusual. If guys had a problem with how many touches/shots they were getting, it was more about how the other 80% got divvied up.

I see that you have a limited post history in the 13-14 months that you've been a member. I along with others here would appreciate it if you would continue that trend.
