Definitive Greg Davis poll

Once and for all. Should he stay or go?

  • Greg Davis should stay as Offensive Coordinator

  • Greg Davis should be fired as Offensive Coordinator

Results are only viewable after voting.
How is retaining him even an option on the poll? We've done nothing but regressed under his coaching.

KF apologists, KF haters and those of us that are in the middle are all in pretty much agreement. Are there any dissenters? Anybody want GD to stay?

I think it's time for a change, our pass plays aren't working and were at the bottom for scoring and yardage.UCLA fired there OC today and Neb. fired there special teams coach. Our schemes aren't working and the WR's have been here long enough but the coaching isn't getting it done so WR coach needs to go also.

I hope nobody expects anything right now though. If he does move on, it will probably be after the bowl game, and even possibly after signing day in Feb.

I agree, there is no way anything will be done before the bowl game. Most likely, things will be announced after signing day.

All a Davis firing will lead to is a Brian Ferentz promotion, which will be exactly the same offense we already have with even less passing and no shotgun. If Kirk could take the forward pass out of College Football, he would.

First of all, we have no idea what Brain would do in the passing game.

Second of all the Greg Davis passing game is soooooo bad that I would gladly take leaping into the complete unknown of the Brian Passing game over sticking with Greg Davis who produced the #99, #93, #89 and #114 passing offenses since he has been here.

I can't see any way Davis gets fired. Possibly retiring or moving on, but not fired. Iowa just won 20 regular season games in 2 seasons. Also lost 3 conference games in 2 years. Ferentz has done that 1 other time and Fry did it twice (once with 2 losses and 3 ties). They did that in '02-'03 and Fry never did it (shorter seasons, though). Am I saying he should or shouldn't be fired? No. What I'm saying is the numbers are so far on Ferentz's side on this one, there's no way he fires him unless there's either an internal problem of donors or higher ups say he needs to, which, if it hasn't been done before this year, I can't see it happening now. If there IS some sort of an internal problem, Davis might "move on", but he isn't going to get outright fired.

Playing calling hasn't been the issue, offensive line, lack of receivers and execution has been. And I'm not a huge GD fan.

It's maddening, but Iowa's offense is largely based on linebackers and offensive linemen.

Coaches are supposed to do more than just call plays. It's not a video game
