Deace's Meltdown

I just can't listen to Deace because he reminds me of that creepy kid from Children of the Corn.

That movie freaked my shit out as a kid.

Deace is a troll but Michigan did get totes jobbed on that spot. That game was over.

Am I the only one who thinks it is funny Michigan got jobbed? I mean talk about a program and a fan base that has gotten every conceivable call for the past 50+ years, it is about time they got screwed like the rest of the team playing Michigan usually get.

On a side note, Deace asked in the podcast if there was an example of a more egregious officiating job than that game....apparently Deace never watched the 2006 Outback Bowl. It was so bad against Iowa that the NCAA put in a new rule that said that non-P5 officials could never work a P5 bowl game again.

Glad somebody caught this, Miller must have been subdued (by the rant) to the point of brain lock

It was a very entertaining podcast. I listened to it on the way in to work then again on the way home. I can't really argue with anything he said.

What he said happened, did happen. And BTN certainly does seem to stand for Buckeye Television Network. Last season when Iowa football was arguably at it's zenith, one could tune in BTN and struggle to find any mention of Iowa at all. It was very maddening.

And some of the refs chosen for that game, having been publicly rebuked in the past for poor performance, is a real head scratcher. Those can't have been the best refs available.

But it happens to everyone team from time to time. Too bad it had to happen in such a marquee game.

Deace really doesn't have a leg to stand on with his arguement. He even says that ALL the penalties called on Michigan were penalties. He says that even tho he doesn't think that play was a first down that he gets doesn't have a problem with that spot.

So basically his whole beef is OSU SHOULD have gotten penalties during the game. No specific plays to point to, just an overall they should have been penalized. Well that is crap. He said OSU should have had holds, well join the rest of college football, Iowa went like 3 games in a row in which the opponent didn't hold against them. Even if OSU gets a couple holding flags, how in the world can we know that would have changed the outcome???

Bottom line is Don't throw a pick 6, don't fumble the ball in the red zone. Freaking don't let a kid run around in the backfield for 10 min. Before letting him break free for all important 10 yards....basically just quit being whinny little bitches.

They say there is offensive holding on almost every play, and really defensive holding and PIs take place way more than they are called. So if 3 opponents ran about 200 plays against the hawks and never got called for holding in those 3 games that would almost be a statistical impossibility.

And even a worse dagger was the holding call on Kittle to start the 2nd half against NDSU which brought back that long run by LDaniels.

Entertaining podcast for sure and the officiating was likely very bad but as others point out they threw 2 picks that created 14 points for OSU without doing much of anything and fumbled going in for a TD at the 1 yard line. Then 75% of the defense failed to tackle the receiver for a 10 yard loss that would have made it 4th and 20 not in FG range in OT.

I wonder what Daece said about the Northwestern game against Iowa when they were flagged once for 5 yards and blatant face masks, holds, PI's, etc. were taking place in a one score game loss?

This pretty much nails it. As far as his rant goes , politics aside, I think Deace is a pretty fair in his evaluations and a solid football man. He talks about how the officials were mostly bias towards OSU. I agree with his assumptions. He wonders why certain officials were selected for this game. The answer is clear IMHO, they were selected because their OSU bias was what they wanted with no marching orders required.

Disclaimer: Michigan is the BIG's next favorite team right now. Future changes could be possible.
What does politics have to do with football?
