I think Fran will get the job done at Iowa.
That being said,
the game today was a horrible effort. The defense was pathetic. The energy was stuck on nothing. The focus was non-existent: evidence by the the lack of lay-ups and free throws.
I don't care if Creighton is the MVC favorite or a top-25 team. Players can control effort, energy, and focus. None of those were on display at The Well.
The University's effort was non-existent as well. There were no Hawkeye booths or tables with Hawkeye attire, clothing, and stuff. There were no cheer squads or dance squads or mascots -- there was no pre-game fire-up attitude while fans were coming in. There were also 0 students. No buses? No packing into vans and vehicles?
The University of Iowa, team, athletic department, school, and students did nothing to sell the Hawkeyes to the Central Iowa market.
And to be frank, if that is the total package when the U of I comes to Des Moines, I say just forget about it. I'll watch them on the BTN.
The BTN puts on a better show of promoting Iowa than Iowa did in DSM. And when the team puts up that kind of performance, then there's $120+ more bucks in my pocket and a remote control in my hand.

I skimmed this, it is getting late but how in the HELL does CU get a courtside section, behind the basket spot for a student section.
While we get our band and what from my nose bleed seats looked like about 8 older people who I assume are rich donors.

All I want for Christmas is for an Iowa team to guard the 3 point shot. I was very impressed with CU's defensive pressure on the ball. They were relentless. I really can't recall the last Iowa team that guarded the 3 point shot and did it well. Can anyone else?
It is ONLY one game but this ONE game was huge. Let's just hope this isn't a sign of things to come.

Once again our shooters can't make wide open shots and we can't guard a guy like McDermott. There won't be any improvement until we don't have to play guys like Archie and have some help at the guard spot. This team is woefully slow and unathletic again. Marble and Basabe look lost, which doesn't bode well for the rest of the season.

Zone was a half step slow all night. When we ran at a shooter there was no control, nothing but a fly bye. CU did shoot out of ther butt as well but the zone was frustrating but if we played man they would have killed us inside all night.
