Days like his happen....

Doubtful that Creighton will shoot 60% every night for sure...hopefully we shoot better than upper 30s most games. Here's what's clearly exposable in the Big 10 this year. No inside game Archie, Brommer (if he is able to return), olaseni, McCabe, Basabe won't be good in total for more than 10 points per/game. Mel looks fat and slow. May still can't shoot to save his life. Gatens will put up points so will Oglesby. Cartwright will run a solid point and give you 10 a game. Marble will spell with some good minutes. We are helpless against a good rebounding team.

Yes they will. But we sure as hell aren't a NCAA bubble team like some on here seem to think we are. 15-16 wins. Which is pretty pathetic given our schedule is one of the nations weakest.

I think just about everybody had the Creighton, ISU, and UNI games in as losses, with a possible loss to Clemson. So the Hawks should go 10-4 in the OOC. I see the same 5 or 6 wins in the BT (against NU, Nebby, PSU, Minny, and an upset or two).

Not a great season, but better than last year.

Cartwright is sick, so I doubt he is ****** at him. Basabe on the other hand, has another game where he looks like he could care less about being there. THAT is concerning.

I got slaughtered this summer for saying it, but I'll say it again. Basabe is a really good garbage player. He can't carry a good Big Ten team. Poor D, limited offensive game.

Patience. We will struggle this year, and next -- unless we pull off a big, big spring signing with that 6th schollie.

I don't understand why fans need to jump off a bridge after a loss and get stupid amped by beating three of the worst teams in D1... Creighton is a really good team, and Iowa will bounce back and be ok this season.

IAJay, I have come to the conclusion that (1) we have a whole lot of young kids on this board (2) we have a bunch of immature cry babies or
(3) we have a very large combination of both and I am leaning towards the latter.

This team is young, teams do have days like this, this team will have more good days than bad, and if anyone expected anything close to perfection, then they set themselves up for the disappointment they are feeling right now.

Bring on the next opponent...Go Hawks!

I don't know how good of a team Creighton is, but I do agree with your first statement.

The NIT would be a dream season for Iowa, lets face it...my expectation this season has and always will be to finish somewhere above .500, or a game or two below .500.
Heading into this season, I thought the play of Basabe would really have a lot to do with it, but so far it still comes down to Iowa being able to defend. It is understandable that a team gets hot, but Iowa has to do something to break it, get in the face, don't help and make them beat you off the dribble...double teaming on teams that have shooters everywhere is asking for a nightmare. There are times when convention just doesn't work and that is why mid-majors have success against Power six teams, because making "basketball sense" doesn't make sense against them.
Mid-majors have the success because they dictate what happens in the game and today is no different. I am not ripping on those players, but there is a reason they aren't in power six leagues...those weaknesses have to be exposed.

Dude, Creighton is a very good team and likely will be in the Top 25 at some point. Mid Majors weakness is usually the undersized frontcourt, and/or a lack of athleticism all over the team. Those obviously aren't weaknesses on this Creighton team. Give them some credit for just being a lot more talented than Iowa today.

not a dis on Archie as he giving it his all, with Brommer the jury is out if he comes back healthy and has improved will help, but in the end Meyer @ 6'10 and woodbury @ 7'1 will be a major upgrade @ the center position as far as height goes
