@dandakich and revisionist history?

Other than he's tight with the Fraud, anyone have a reason why @dandakich keeps throwing darts at Iowa? Had a pretty nasty tweet after the Nebby game saying that Iowa's problems clearly weren't Alford's fault. Then the past couple days he's been hitting on about how great a job New Mexico, that it is better than Iowa still, etc.

I like his announcing, but the dude is making off base, because I, like many of you, lived through the Alford years. I was there to see how he handled the PP situation. How he alienated a loyal fan base with arrogance. And oh, by the way, he quit to go to a school that has virtually no entrance standards and is in a far inferior conference, so yeah, Dakich, maybe that makes it an "easier" job, but better?

Just curious if anyone else has noticed his recent wrath and knows why.

Some of you just can't move on can you. Seriously it is so comical.

New Mexico has been a pretty solid coaching gig for years and this was a perfect fit for Alford. You mentioned the conference being inferior you do realize that the Mountain West is now tied with the Big Ten #1 ranked RPI Conference in the Country.

Move on?? Dude, I was talking about why Dakich keeps throwing this ancient history in Iowa's face without the full truth. I've moved on. Gladly.

And yes, I realize the RPI is currently even, and obviously that is the only way to judge conferences.

Last week Dakich said he was involved with the contract negotiations between Alford and New Mexico, so keep that in mind, as well.

As I pointed out in another thread, this is the very best example as to why RPI is meaningless.

I thought it was Bush's fault. Who said it was Alford's fault? Why is this on the basketball forum?

"Iowa made Alford keep assistants/long time employees on staff..no practice facilities when others were exploding..NMex a much better job"

@dandakich - "Yo Iowa..it wasn't an Alford problem.."
@Simpanic - "for the record. Alford left, he wasnt fired. Iowa's problem was hiring Todd Lickliter to replace him."
@dandakich - "I know..I was involved n the negotiations ..New Mex AD is a great friend..that y I say "yo Iowa it wasn't an Alford problem"

Thanks for throwing those tweets in there, Spank- I wasn't sure how to do it.

So he's decided, YEARS later, to throw darts at the Hawks because he's buds with Krebs. And of course Steve. Just strange and so out of the blue.

Anybody who thinks that the MWC is on par with the Big Ten this year is smoking crack.

Same thing goes for people who think that Alford winning at New Mexico, but not at Iowa, is just "an Iowa problem". Apparently Dan Dakich doesn't grasp the fact that Alf has a much easier schedule to navigate every year in the MWC than he had in the Big Ten. Get back to me when Alford makes it out of the first or second round of a post-season tournament, including the NIT, at New Mexico.

Alford used to talk to the public through Seth Davis, now he's using Dan Dakich.

Good point- so if one reads between the lines, maybe SA is looking to get back into a high major conference and doesn't want to be labled as a coach who can only succeed in a mid major conference. (And before anyone re-posts RPI, I am talking historically, not currently.)

Anyway, it'll be nice when Dakich moves on from this topic as I do typically really enjoy his work.

The MWC plays the RPI game. Always have.

Honest question - how would the top 5 teams in the MWC fair in the B1G? How about the bottom 5?

This would make sense. It just comes out of the blue

I watched the ESPN documentary on the Knicks vs Reggie Miller and it talked a little bit about Reggie getting picked over Alford for the NBA he had this look of "You can't do that, I'm Steve ******* Alford". He seems like a dude who just isn't used to having his *** kissed and Iowa fans wouldn't do that (only because he didn't win here). So utilizing a mouth piece in the media to talk **** about that place would makes some sense but even then, where they hell would it come from?

You all realize DD went to Indiana, right?

Of course, and he is now a member of national media. This stuff is just out of left field and way past its time. Maybe he had a bad time his last visit to Carver? Maybe Steve asked him to try to cut Iowa down a bit as the program is getting back on track. Just so strange.
