@dandakich and revisionist history?

How about the Top 8 from each conference with the non-conference games vs. Top 8 teams from the "major" basketball conferences and games vs. top teams of other conferences:

Mountain West
New Mexico: v.UConn -W . . . @Cinncy -W . . . @St.Louis -L . . . USC -L
Colorado St: @Colorado -L . . . @Wash -L
UNLV: Oregon -L . . . Iowa St -W . . . @Cal -L . . . UNI -W . . . @N.Car -L
Boise St: @Mich St -L . . . @Creighton -W . . . LSU -W
SD ST: v.Syracuse -L . . . v.UCLA -W . . . v.Arizona -L . . . @USC -W
Air Force: @Colorado -L . . . Wichita St -L . . . v.Florida -L
Wyoming: Colorado -W
Fresno St: Colorado -L . . . @UCLA -L @Texas -L

Big Ten
Indiana: v.G'town -W . . . UNC -W . . . v.Butler -L
Michigan: v.Pitt -W . . . v.K-ST - W . . . NCST -W . . . Arkansas -W . . . W.Virg -W
Ohio St: @Duke -L . . . Kansas -L . . . v.Wash -W
Mich St: v.UConn -L . . . v.Kansas -W . . . Boise -W . . . @MiaFL -L
Wisconsin: @Florida -L . . . v.Creighton -L . . . v.Arkansas -W . . . Virginia -L . . . CAL -W . . . Marquette -L
Illinois: v.Butler -W . . . @Gonzaga -W . . . v.Mizzou -L . . . GaTech -W . . . v.USC -W
Minnesota: v.Duke -L . . . v.Memphis -W . . . @FLST -W . . . @USC -W
Iowa: v.Wichita St -L . . . Iowa St -W . . . v.UNI -W

non-conference record vs. Top 8 teams in other bb conferences
MWC 9-15
B1G 20-12

home:
MWC 4-5
B1G 7-2

away:
MWC 3-8
B1G 3-4

neutral:
MWC 2-2
B1G 10-6

vs. ACC
MWC 0-2
B1G 4-4

vs. PAC12
MWC 3-8
B1G 4-0

I would posit that if the Mountain West cannot compete against an average PAC12, then it is not going to compete against a very sturdy 1 thru 8 teams in the B1G.

I'd put the B1G's #8 team ahead of the #4 MWC team. And Colorado State's non-conference record is not impressive while UNLV demonstrated that can't win on the road against 4 through 8 in the PAC12.

But, but, but, the RPI says the Mountain west is as good as the BoneG.

The 5th place team actually belongs in both of those groups. The answer is they wouldn't. I watched New Mexico play Cincinnati, neither of those teams are better than Iowa.

When Iowa can beat fricking Nebraska, maybe we can talk about them being better than New Mexico or Cincinnati. Until then maybe we just clam up and enjoy the NIT.
Nebraska, ******* Nebraska has beat Iowa 3 consecutive times. Totally unacceptable.

Nebraska has beaten Iowa 3 consecutive times? Did I miss something?

Blubber away...

I like Dakich as an announcer...he is not afraid to speak his mind, and he does know bb.
He is a sports-talk personality in Indy,so he likes to stir the pot which is those guys stock in trade.

Now, as for his comment about SA not being able to fire some long time guys at Iowa...would like to know who he is referring to...cannot imagine who that is...John Strief? Sounds like a distortion of facts.

NM is a good bb program...for many years,''The Pit'' was about the only arena besides UCLA's west of the mississippi that anyone had ever heard about. They have a bb tradition, best in the mountain region.
SA did not build it,but he has enhanced it. Dakich should let it go,tho. 99% of Iowa fans have moved on,and are happier with Fran than they ever were with SA,it seems.
Maybe this is why Dakich's candy-striped panties are in a bunch and he can't let it go?

BIG is obviously a better league. I have been critical of the use of RPI from day one. It sucks and means nothing. Nothing beats the old eye ball test.

Also, New Mexico did not lose to USC..They won that game 75-67.

I wonder if Alford is looking to move to a major conference and is having his surrogates talk him up. I wouldn't be surprised to see Seth Davis take the white knight role soon.
