Dan Dakich

Don't forget his 1st half rant about Iowa having bad nets, sticky nets, slow nets... Wtf was that all about? What a tool. Said Iowa used slow nets because Tom Davis needed time to set up his full court press. Biggest load of horse **** I ever heard.

I didn't hear Dakich say this but that was the story back in the Davis days. I guess I don't see a problem with it if it was true.

I dont have any issue with it if it is true, I just don't buy it. Does the NCAA not have standard nets? Regardless of Tom Davis, why rip on the nets today? They even did a close up showing a "curve" in one of the strings of the net to "prove" that the nets were poor quality.

All he would have needed to do is come here and we would have explained the cheap nets. We are saving money for a Hawkey arena.

yep, guy's still a dbag. even got an "aaron craft" mention in and referred to Iowa as "IU" several times. The hawks ain't the hoosiers, dan!!!

Dakich knows basketball. He really does, the problem is he just spends most of the game telling you how much he knows basketball and it's done in such a condescending, snarky way.

What's ironic, is it's really similar to my posting style.

Are you Dakich?

Going to disagree with most on this thread. Dakich was the first in the media on the Iowa bandwagon. Last year he picked them as his dark horse in the btn. This year the only thing he seems to like more than Iowa in tHe btn are Aaron Craft and Vonleh from Indiana. He brings a good perspective IMO to most broadcasts; and he isn't afraid to criticize like he did when Iowa played like crap vs OSU.

That is fine but he went over the top in his Craft love fest that last game.

I like Dakich.. I know Miller does too..

Anytime you have an opinion that isn't generic people will hate you.

He says some dumb things occasionally... but overall I don't have a problem with him.

Pretty much agree. He may have went over the top on Craft but overall he does not bother me.

The real question is would you rather listen to Dan call his sons game or Bill Walton call Lukes games?

Did he go longer than 5 seconds without mentioning Aaron Craft?

They guy is awful, he says some things that are spot on then he drifts and focuses on his No. 1 pick.

I am glad I won't be watching Saturday and it is two fold; first, no Crotch Itch and second, I am sick of hitting rewind and watching the same game from Iowa every time on the floor.

Here is what I know I am going to get:
1. Refusal to make a post entry pass, other than to Gabe right now, when Iowa has four guys that are capable of posting against most teams.
2. Defense that is just not as good as it has been the past two years.
3. Watching guys settle for awful shots early in the shot clock.
4. "Best" players showing up in the second half when they seem to take themselves out the game by not being aggressive early.
5. The same guys bust their butts and get the same results.

This is a good team, but very frustrating to watch at times and have Crotch Itch calling games makes it that much more painful.

How is it Iowa goes 11 deep, but has longer than average scoring droughts and not being able to hit a FT consistently and cannot make a FG?

Did I mention having Crotch Itch analyzing makes me throw up a little?

Right on about the Dan Dakich/Aaron Craft love affair.....

Dakish is right about one thing: Oleseni, (and maybe Woody when he decides to be aggressive) are the best Iowa players (more athletic may be more descriptive) on the court. The only 2 Iowa players that can defeat double teams. Every other Iowa player sucks it up when the offense is 1 shooter while the other players stand around and watch. Sucks it up with a hand in the face. Sucks it up without a wide open look.

For Iowa to win, except for Gabe and Woody, it's important there is team offense and movement of the ball. Inside out at least once every half court set.

Always amazes me how we get the good announcers when we win and the bad ones when we lose. If I'm not mistaken I think the same thing happens with referees.

good announcers are ones that only say how great your team is...

Actually its funny to me because everytime I've heard Dakich talk about Iowa the past two years its 95% positive.

Only thing that got me today is when he said his son was "one of the best leaders he has known"

Even if that may be true just sounds /finger in throat...

Maybe Dakich is calling the games impartially. When the team goes bad he mentions it and when the team goes good he mentions it.

He was over the top, and actually sort of creepy, with his man-crush on Craft. Also didn't like the way he took shots at Fran during the OSU game and made it sound like he knew the viewpoints of teh B1G referees just because he happened to run into one on an airplane.

That was Mike Tirico who said he ran into an official on the plane and called out Fran.
