Dan Dakich

DD is the same no matter who plays, I simply don't like him and probably never will. He goes off on tangent after tangent that has no bearing on the game (Craft/Fair, time at IU, how he coached, how he was coached), then he will say something about the game that is actually relevant and has insight, but then drifts back away.

When he actually focuses on the basketball game, I have no issues and agree with a lot of what he says, the problem, he doesn't stick to it. Just drives me nuts in that respect.

I like it when he calls out players and coaches and talks about how the ball has to go on both sides of the floor during an offensive possession in conference play or the offense will fail. I also agree with a lot of his statements on shot selection. I just can't take the other 35 minutes of the game.

That was Mike Tirico who said he ran into an official on the plane and called out Fran.

Yeah, it was his boytoy who had to fight to get a word in the entire game and he used his opportunity to diss Fran.....

Dakich is the biggest loudmouth in college basketball announcing and his pet Tirico is a tool.....

Dakich is annoying at times but he does give opinionated analysis at least. I don't know why fans get all butt hurt if an announcer isn't constantly heaping praise on their team. Tirico always seems like he would rather be calling NBA games which he does for ESPN. Tirico said there are far too many college coaches who jump around and scream too much. He actually called Izzo for it as well.

You are not reading what is being said about Dakich. Did you actually watch the game and listen to the hard on he had for Craft? Even Tirico was getting uncomfortable over Dakish gushing over Craft.

His Craft talk did not surprise me. Hell I have heard Dakich call games this year that did not involve OSU and he still found a way to talk about him. I guess I can filter out the Craft stuff at this point. Hawk fans had a hardon for Dakich last year as well. He does actually compliment iowa but Iowa fans never want to hear that. Vitale is way worse than Dakich as Vitale gives zero analysis other than spuing out his 30 year old sayings and telling us every player is great.

I don't know if it was just because Craft played a great all-round game against us, but Dakich went well above and beyond his usual Craft schtick that night. It was ridiculous, and it was difficult to tune it out because it was almost all he talked about. I've listed to him call other games and he'll talk about Craft; okay, fine. But last Tuesday is the only time I've ever muted the commentary for no other reason than it was unbearable. I've allowed myself to suffer through Pam Ward, but couldn't take another second Dakich's jock sniffing. He's usually not that bad, but Tuesday was terrible.

Today I realized that Dakich wasn't my frustration, it was the play of the hawks on Tuesday. He was fine today, even when we played a team his son is on.... News to me.

Anyways I think Craft outplayed Marble. I'm sure Marble realized it and came out today with a purpose and proved he can be the best player on the floor, even when you include Stauskas.

good points iba. Whatever this team is going to do this season, it needed to start yesterday. And don't take the foot off the gas.

Enormous personality difference.....

Vitalle is actually a good guy, Dakich is a loudmouthed jerk who loves to irritate people.....

That is exactly how I see it.....
While I agree that they have very different styles, I think they are both a blight on college basketball.

^^agree, call the games and quit telling stories about the olden days.

Bilas and some others focus on the game, I always liked Kellogg but havent heard him much the last few years

Rafftery is just OK but rafftery, vitale, dackich and others are shills for the coaches etc like John Gruden in that everyone is just the "best"

My son demanded that I mute.....

Seems as though quite a few fans despise Dakich. Wonder how they feel about Jay Bilas, Clark Kellogg, Len Dawson and Bill Rafferty.....

I am glad I won't be watching Saturday and it is two fold; first, no Crotch Itch and second, I am sick of hitting rewind and watching the same game from Iowa every time on the floor.

Here is what I know I am going to get:
1. Refusal to make a post entry pass, other than to Gabe right now, when Iowa has four guys that are capable of posting against most teams.
2. Defense that is just not as good as it has been the past two years.
3. Watching guys settle for awful shots early in the shot clock.
4. "Best" players showing up in the second half when they seem to take themselves out the game by not being aggressive early.
5. The same guys bust their butts and get the same results.

Ouch - 0 for 5.

But as a Hawkeye, I suspect you're glad to be wrong this time.

He was over the top, and actually sort of creepy, with his man-crush on Craft. Also didn't like the way he took shots at Fran during the OSU game and made it sound like he knew the viewpoints of teh B1G referees just because he happened to run into one on an airplane.

Agreed on his Craft love affair. I thought the gush on Tuesday was over the top and annoying, and I thought he was gonna start stroking it again yesterday.

Other than that... I somewhat like Dakich, although at times he can come off as a little pompous.

When a guy says on the air that he is a jerk and that is why he is divorced...enough said.

During a game last year, he said if the coaches would just listen to me, their teams would be better and have a chance to win.
