Cubs fire Quade

I don't think it's Brenly. My money is on Bobby Valentine.

I'm not a big Bobby Valentine fan, I can't really put my finger on why, but I think it's because it seems like he's trying to sell me something cheap everytime I see him on t.v

For schedule reasons, I listened to the Series on radio last week ... Valentine was on with Hershiser and Dan Schuman (play by play guy). I've not been high on Valentine, but after listening to him dissect players, situations, and mental approach, he was impressive. Not sure he's the guy for the Cubs, but certainly brighter than I thought.

Could Bobby play in the same sandbox as Theo?

By the way, the radio broadcasters were excellent all series long. If you tire of the Fox geniuses, turn on the radio.

Has a team bringing in a former team icon to manage them ever worked in baseball? Well, I guess Pete Rose did pretty well....for a while.

The point is that if the Cubs hire Sandberg, they will eventually have to fire Sandburg. Who wants to be the guy who fires Ryne Sandberg from the Cubs? Rafael Palermo maybe...

I've said this since the beginning. You know Ghost, I'm beginning to think you may actually be intelligent.

Unlike EddyP - ******* thinks he's winning an award all by himself this year.

Holy ****. I actually agree with Ghost. I'm pretty sure that is sign #29 of the Apocalypse.

Heard on The Score this afternoon 10 minutes after the Quade announcement Epstein called Ryno to let him know up front that he was not going to be considered and then he called the Phillies to squash rumors before they started. After the call Ryno was extremely complementary of Epstein and said the Cubs got a classy guy.

That is signs of a great leader, someone who is up front with everyone and takes care of business.

I would love Brenly....but I think with him being as hard headed as he is and being blunt about players he would have a team thats divided with him. The "mamas boys" that are playing would act like babies b/c they can't handle a truthfull, tough manager. Most want someone they can walk all over.

Oh look its the bi-yearly "Cubs fire/look for new manager who will lead them back to the glory days of 08... 1908".

See you all in another 2-3 years...

I kinda hoped that the Cubs would hire a veteran manager who wanted to coach for a year or two and have Ryno as his bench coach as a coach in waiting.

Ok wanted quade gone but since they said no ryno the only people I want are: tito, brenley, girardi, or maddon. If its none of these I will be pretty dissapointed in Theo

I would like brenly, maddux, sveum, and Valentine. Whoever they get is gona have to be a big personality imo because that's what it takes in Chicago. Also since epstein appears to be smart and classy guy, the manager doesn't need to worry about red tape and upsetting him all time so a players manager is a must.

Here boyz....keep your eye on the prize!
