Based on what?
Anyhow...it was mentioned before the game on the pregame show (radio) that todays game was the last of a string of 19 straight, and that in the previous 18 the Cubs had gone 9-9. Not coincidentally, the win today gets them back to .500. Also, it should be noted that in the last 3 series (@Milwaukee, Washington/Arizona at home), the Cubs scored 25 runs, 7 runs, and 33 runs. Talk abount inconsistency. I bring this up because I wrote a couple of weeks ago that this team is a lot like last years team - good enough to keep you interested, but not good enough to ever really go on a run.
That being said, there are some positives. Soriano looks to be on the sort of tear where he can carry the team for a couple of weeks, and the rest of the lineup (sans Ramirez) seems to be coming around. Chad Tracy started only his second game of the year, and looked great. The starting pitching looks good, especially the two guys who most of us thought would be the weak links, Gorz and Silva. Gorz hasn't given up more than two runs in any of his starts this year, so it was nice to see him get some run support. The bullpen seems to be pitching a lot better with the addition of Zambrano allowing guys to settle into the roles they'll have the rest of the year. Obviously, Grabow didn't look good today, but maybe you can chalk up part of that to pitching with an 8 run lead and was pitching to contact.
