We gotta raise some decibels tomorrow and help our team. We can win this game, but it's going to take a total effort by team and fans. So LETS GET DONE AGAINST fITz!!!!! I really don't like that guy.
Yes. And hopefully the students come out in support. I believe the majority of the tickets that remained unsold for all the games this year were student tickets.
I was also wondering this the other day...
Was the teams performance last week in the Shoe (and IMO overall this season) enough to inspire confidence (or at least tempered excitement) in the fan base again?
Your thoughts?

A nice Win and a well played game by the Hawks this week, along with Real signs of life and promise for the future next week, could start to bring some additional confidence and fan support.
That said, some people will simply not believe this team can truely turn things around long term, until KF is gone.
Win this week, play well, clean game, I will feel good, not great, but good about the promise for a possible 7 win season, which I would have totally been happy with prior to the season. Oh, and a Victory on November 29 PLEASE.

The crowd didn't bring it when we were 4-1 and 1-0 in B1G play against MSU. There's no excuse for it. The bottom line is we could have beaten Ohio State last week, and I guarantee you that Kinnick still would not be that energetic for NW. The energy just isn't what it used to be. We've had one game since 2010 where the energy was excellent that that was Wisconsin 2010. That game was very representative of what many games were like from 2001-2009 at Kinnick. Outside of that game, Kinnick has been a huge disappointment.
And a few wins aren't going to change things either. If 4-1 and 1-0 with MSU and Dantonio coming to town isn't enough then I don't know what is. Kinnick was absolutely pathetic for the MSU game. And it wasn't because we didn't get anything going until late in the first half. Kinnick was pathetic right from the get go.

We have not come out flying high and scoring well and shutting down the opponent in the first qtr very much.
So this is a game we need the hawks to be swarming from the get go. The Dee needs to be tough and if we can get a couple scores ahead early we all know how that can snowball against an opponent at Kinnick.

I'm a student and I'll be there, front row like I am every home game. But I hate to break it to you guys, apathy about football is at an all time high among students. The out of state kids frankly dont care anymore about a mediocre Iowa team. The in state ones are in a bit of a rut. Students are selling their tickets they've already bought, undercutting any effort by the U to sell more student tickets. Just my .02 from a students perspective on campus.
Also the student section will be dead any game this year after half time, as many students leave then regardless of score. I of course, stay and cheer on the ******* hawks

Wasn't this way back in my day of the early 90's. I have a feeling that this is not a unique to Iowa situation though.

I agree. I think just general apathy towards sports in general these days. Tough to find any buddies here that I can even watch an MLB game with.

I'll say it. IMO, I think the big problem is all the negativity. Whether the negative individauls support the team or not, the fact is it takes its toll on the other fans. People are aware that the program is struggling, but its not just the team its the fan base as well.
It's no longer the Saturday morning, wake up, **** excellence, and go watch your favorite program give someone a well deserved beat down in Kinnick. That arrogance in the fan base is gone (not saying it isn't justifiable). No matter how positive or passionate many of are, the negativity is constantly lurking. Listen to the crowd before and during the games, theres something missing. The fact is in the past I remember the mentality that no matter what we're not out of this game and the energy the crowd displayed. Now its like its gone the moment the balls put on the tee. The mentality of winning at all costs at home has disappeared and as a fan base we've deteriorated as much as the program. Hate to say it, but the negativity has taken its toll on all of us.

A lot of younger people dont get the nuances of baseball.
I am older, grew up playing a ton of baseball, coached baseball, watched great MLB baseball. now it is saturated too.
If you had the chance to watch mays, aaron, clemente, al oliver, stargell, bob gibson back in the day when games were over in 2 hours or so you would love the game.
