Crean Out at Indiana

Carver would be a sell out for sure if Alford came back to coach Indiana. I would pay good money to boo that piece of work. Don't think Steve would leave UCLA and who knows if Indiana would want him.

I'm thinking Alford might be a high possibility for the gig. If he doesn't get to the sweet 16 or better.

A lot of talk of Crean to Illinois?
I could see that happening also.

Here's a video Purdue fans did when it was announced that Crean would come back to IU before he was fired.

Hilarious! All honesty though Tom Crean leaving Indiana does not make me comfortable. They are going to bring in a coach that is willing to compete with Kentucky and Duke by bringing in 1 and done players every year. Tom Crean could get talent but he broke just about everyone of them. Indiana has the capability of being a Top 5 program every year. I really hope they botch this hire. I hope they don't hire Alford because I could just see it being that weird perfect storm. The legend returns fresh with his West Coast swag and hogs up the top talent in Indy. Jesus what if he brought Lonzo Ball's little brother LeMelo? Count me out for Alford. His smugness is better suited out west. I don't want to risk him blowing up at Indiana.

You can't say that for sure. They had a number of coaches after Knight which didn't pan out.

Don't see lateral BIG moves a lot. Coaches don't generally switch in conference schools.

IU basketball is more accurately Alabama football pre-Saban, they have the fan base and the in state kids just not a guy who's brought it all together. The talent in next years class is mind numbing (Romeo Langford), let alone if Alford got the job he's get Kris Wilkes a top 10 kid in 2017 to stay in Indiana.

The AD's job will likely be hinged to this hire. They have always pursued coaches with recruiting accolades. All I'm saying is if they get a great coach and great recruiter combo that isn't a cheater (Sampson), it would be very likely they are the cream of the B1G for awhile. Izzo and Matta are losing their grip on the B1G which creates a power vacuum. I don't want to see the next Indiana coach fill that vacuum. We need the hawks to fill that.

There is no doubt in my mind that alfraud will be coaching at Indiana next year.

there's no way IU wants Alford. How many have they had since Knight left, 4? They be going for a bigger fish this time

Like who? Billy Dovovan? Not disagreeing, just wondering what big name they might go after that would go there. Brad Stevens said he wasn't interested. Some IU fans want Hoiberg.

How to you presume Izzo An Matta replacements couldn't sustain their programs or even improve them? You seem to have tunnel vision on the Indiana coach position. I think you could say the same for any high profile BIG team.

The national perception is much different of Steve Alford than the Iowa fan perception. He was a big enough fish to land the coaching job at the program with the most NCAA national titles.... he's a big enough fish for the Indiana job.
