Could Iowa State Be The Last Straw For Mack Brown?

True. The defensive discipline on that last drive was unbelievable. Two horrible pass interference penalties and a face mask for a free 15 yds.

as much as paw is supposed to be a defensive guru, that has pretty much been the tone of his d during his tenure. lots of 15 yard personal foul type penalties. any guess as to why......... :)

OMFG, you have to hear the crybaby clown post game show, this guy is just whining about the refs so hard core! He blames the refs for the hail mary play because they refused to call holding on Tejas all day. All of the PI calls were BS too.

It wasn't a fumble. The runners forward progress had been stopped by the defense and the refs should have blown the whistle earlier. If a player is being held up by the defense then he is considered down. ISU screwed the pooch.

The Clones look a lot better than when they played us. I just assume it's because we're an incredible football team (and that Northern Illinois would beat Alabama by 20)

Ummm...Texas sucks and pretty much would make any team with a pulse look good. You realize that bruising BYU team punished Texas to the tune of like 450 yards rushing. Texas has no freaking clue on defense and their offensive game plan was awful. You run the ball every play on ISU...or at least 70% of the time.

Sorry, I was wrong, BYU had 550 yards rushing against Texas...or roughly 154 more yards in that one game than Iowa has given up in five (396).

I would like to modify my previous statement. Even though they won, the entire Texas coaching staff should still resign. In Applewhite's post game he was talking about how they wanted to run more and that they were hoping to get more than 29 carries but the clowns forced them to throw the ball more. I had to change the station after that.

I said to myself during the whole game that Major Applewhite should be fired. You have a big size O line advantage vs Isu's D line, especially on the left side and you barely run the ball. That was the worst called offensive game I have ever seen called by an O coordinator. And that says a lot.

By the way, Mac knows he's out at the end of the season.

I was thinking the same thing. That was pretty poor coaching, especially on offense. Texas had 28 rushing attempts and 45 passing attempts (with a pretty mediocre QB). That was the perfect offensive game plan to negate their talent advantage and give ISU a chance. Their defense is also pretty bad allowing 462 yards against ISU.

So you have never heard of 2nd efforts? It happens all the time. A player runs into a bunch if defenders (loses forward progress) then bounces off & gets a 2nd effort for additional yards. The have to let the play, play out. If they let plays continue for 2nd efforts, they have to let them go for defenders as well. The RB was never down on that play & the whistle was after George had the ball on replay. It wasn't too quick.

He would have been on the ground except the ISU guy had him wrapped up keeping him off the ground. This is completely different then when someone has the opportunity for a 2nd effort.

Also, the timing of the whistle is secondary to when the ref determines the play dead and doesn't blow the whistle fast enough.

Texas looked bad. All that talent and a 5 million a year coach and they win a squeaker in Ames. How can a team that has an offensive line that out weighs the defense by 30 pounds not be able to run the ball? And Texas won 9(?) games last year. Mack Brown was talking national championship before the season started. And now....?

Whomever devised the Texas game plan should have been fired on the spot last night. Why in the hell would you throw the ball 45 times against ISU? Did they not watch the UNI or Iowa Game film? (especially since their qb, McCoy, threw the football like a girl.)

Yup & Texas was playing a qb that almost threw the ball, "Under handed". His throwing motion is worse than Martinez at Nebraska.

Cause he was fires a couple weeks ago. "Next coach in".

Can't remember if it was Shipley or McCoy in the postgame, but whoever it was, was talking about how loud and incredible the atmosphere was there. He was making it sound like Trice is as loud as Autzen.

Think about all the crappy places Texas ends up playing. Come to Texas, keep playing in places and against kids you played in and against in Texas High School football and then go on the road to a bunch of little faceless towns in the Western plains. Heck, they don't even get to go to freaking Norman.
