Compare the impact of Woodbury/Gesell to Horner/Brunner as freshmen.

do you gamble or play the lottery? i would be willing to bet you do,
you predict/speculate that you MIGHT win!
if you do win i doubt you go running around hollering i was right,
just like when you lose , idoubt you go running around telling everybody you were wrong.
lets face it your interpretation on what was right or wrong are different when saying someone might do something, but to make you happy so you can now go to sleep at night i was wrong, happy.
God forbid some might speculate on a kid doing something and it not happening. as like tools like you will be quick to jump down their throats for daring to speculate

maybe Jon should pass a new rule
that no poster shall predict the outcome of a player or the team will perform ever.

I think Gesell will average 4assists per game at a min...I don't think 5 is crazy...the style of play and such opps will help. Horner was great at the longer court passes...watching Gesell in that all star game really reminded me of how well Horner was in that aspect...Gesell looks to get the ball up the floor and plays with his head up

Also, Woodbury did much better in the second half of that all star game...looked real fluid...still plays shorter than his size IMO, needs to develop more lower body and core strength to keep his positioning on the boards...dont think he is any sort of savior in year one and that is fine.

If you compare the talent around Brunner and Horner to next years talent, I think it is very possible that Gesell has 5 assists per game. Reiner and Sondy were power guys vs. slasher/run the court kind of players. Worley was a combo power/slasher. Boyd was a steady player, but not a 90 mph kind of guy. Leslie would have fit on nest years team well.

Now look at next years team. Basabe and White run like gazelles. Olaseni and Woodbury are above average of running the court. Marble will be awesome at the full court. Eric May, if healthy can fly up and down the court. McCabe is more like Brunner. Add in the 3 unproven freshmen in Clemmons, Ingram, and Meyer, who all appear to be able to run up and down the court.

So if Gesell is as good as advertised, he should be able to get 5 assists per game with all of the talent we have to run up and down the court...especially if we can press to create turnovers. We should be averaging in the 75-85 points per game next year if everyone stays healthy and improves from where they are at today. This fast paced game may keep Woodbury's numbers lower, but increase Gesell's. Woodbury, hopefully will be our defensive specialist to get the fast break going.

Is that a new meaning of stiff?

My beef against these predictions has nothing to do with the youngins. I think all five will develop and have a lot of success...a possible "golden era", even.

But there is a lot of talent on this team, and I don't think we'll see boffo stats for anyone but Gesell until their Junior years.

With Marble, McCabe, Basabe, White and Oglesby in front of them, points are going to be tough to come by. I think Frosh stats look like this next year:

Gesell: 7.9 ppg 4.1 asst
Woodbury: 6.3 ppg 5.1 rbs
Clemmons: 2.1 ppg 1.9 asst
Ingram: 4.3 ppg .7 asst 1.8 rbs
Meyer: 1.9 ppg 3.7 rbs

...but I think Junior year stats look like this:

Gesell: 16.9 ppg 4.8 asst
Woodbury: 13.8 ppg 9.2 rbs 1.4 bpg
Clemmons: 6.1 ppg 3.4 asst 2.1 spg
Ingram: 7.4 ppg 1.2 asst 4.6 rbs
Meyer: 8.3 ppg 5.6 rbs

pretty much agree but i think Woodbury MIGHT avg more points than that closer to 17. it all depend on how SR White does as i believe he will be the leading scorer and how Gabe developes between now and then as he will be a senior without a RS
BUT be forewarned that section136 will be there to jump down your throat and will expect you to admit you were wrong on your predictions

I have no problem admitting I am wrong, herby. There is no way I'm not going to be wrong on at least a few of those numbers.

....In fact, having done a little research, I think I need to amend my Woodbury and Meyer freshman prediction. 6 and 5 is pretty optimistic. I'll go with 4 and 2.5 for Woodbury. 1.9 and 1.6 for Meyer.

It must suck to be as bitter as you herby. I cant help it you dont know squat about basketball.

your the bitter person here not me i did not have a problem with Gabes final stats, in fact i was quite satsfied after seeing him play, you are the one that is happy as hell that he did not put up good #'s or really mad, not sure which it is, but whatever. Gabes play and the success the team had this fall makes me happy as hell. and i can't wait till this fall, to watch this team play.
win or lose the Iowa team is fun to watch and watching the current and incoming players improve has me very happy, unlike you because all it seems like you dwell on is what poster say on here and rip on posters for meaningless post, and that exactly what they are MEANINGLESS post

It isn't that you predicted something Herby, many on here do. It is when you do predict something, others will disagree, and that is where you become aggressive, and want to go all 911 on them. You call them haters that they don't think Gabe will AVG. 8 and 8 and that they are star gazers if they think that Woody will start over Gabe in Woody's FR year. You start attacking others if they don't think Gesell is the next Burke, and on and on, as the examples are endless of you getting all p!ssed off at someone, just because they don't agree with you, and make the same predictions as you.

Just tone it down a bit, and let others disagree with you.

Well said. Could not agree more.

Well, he did say that his medication has adverse consequences to his emotional state, so I can't really fault him for lashing out like this.

At first I was thinking that internet chatting might not be for him. However, after reading some youtube and politico comments, I think internet chatting is perfect for a guy like him.
