Talked to my souce this morning (D1 Asst) and he heard all candidates were head coaches. Mentioned Hewitt, Gregory, Utah St. coach.

Also said Jacobsen was contacted and he asked if he could bring his entire staff, and the said not all of them. So he wasn't to happy about that. He thinks Jake will stay at UNI until the "right" job comes up.

On a side note, coaching rumor mill is Tubby looking at Georgia Tech and Hewitt to St. Johns.

Don't buy the Jacobsen part, I am pretty sure that he would want at least part of his staff to stay at UNI and continue upon what was built there by him and McDermott. I don't think he would wipe out UNI that way.. just my opinion and I could be wrong.
 
Agreed. he wouldn't wipe out the staff, but it was clear that Iowa wanted some say in some of the asst coaches. He also stated that were Jake to leave Green would likely take over.
 
I don't believe Jacobson will be talking to other schools as long as his team is still playing. Also nothing has leaked out about Iowa asking permission to talk to him. You can also forget about Hewitt if St. Johns offers.
 
Didn't we learn anything after seeing the sad results we got from the staff that Lickliter brought in. "fool me once my fault. Fool me twice your fault."

Jacobsen isn't going to interview for the job while his team is playing, but you dont think he has heard through the "grapevine" or been contacted by the search firm?

Agree with this statement. He has probably been contacted and said, yes I will talk, but not until my team is out. Thanks to SI that will most likely be on Saturday.
 
When looking for something you shouldn't keep doors closed without even looking inside the room. bad move if they are only looking at HC.
 
Whoever is hired as head coach will be allowed to bring any assistants he wants. There will be no head D1 basketball coaches hired this year that will not have complete control over their staff unless there is some moral/criminal/legal situation involved.
