How can you think that? What are you basing it off of? Vandy played in 3 games all of last year, and he really didn't put up great stats...Don't get me wrong, I think Vandenberg will be good, but right now I disagree with what you said.

As for the playcalling/execution.....Both have sucked the last few games.

After the Arizona loss I remember reading some people saying that this Iowa team would be a 3 or 4 loss team... I thought they were insane. I literally couldn't grasp how they could think that.

Yet... Here we are and I don't think we can blame this on talent. I don't think we can blame this on execution, because we have gotten lucky on a few plays that were not executed by opposing teams(dropped passes) so I feel as though when our players make a mistake... the other team's players make mistakes just as often.

I think the biggest factor in why this season has been so disappointing is due to the coaching. I didn't expect to be playing for the national championship... but I certainly thought the rose bowl was ours this year. I feel as though our coaching staff knows what is wrong and knows what the fans want... and when the coaches change up the style of play and become more aggressive... it has worked, but then we go back to the old ways. I don't understand it. When we are playing a certain way and dominating... why would you change it? I don't care if we beat teams by 50 points and let up a touchdown because we were too aggressive and got burned once. I don't care if it looks like we are running up the score. I would much rather win by 50 points and have someone accuse us of running up the score than to lose the game on a 4th quarter drive over and over and over.

I'm not saying we need to change who the coaches are... but we need to change something. THEY need to change something.

For sure coaching don't give me aw were just Iowa we have 31 current NFL players and plenty on this team. Matt Millen said it at end of game coach KF says those were not our expectations those were outside expectations.

Great teams expect high expectations players should want to play at Iowa for a chance at a Big Ten Title and BCS bowls. When you come off a 11-2 season and BCS win with majority of parts back 7-4 is not good. KF needs too learn how to coach with high expectations if we are ever going to take another step forward. I guessing OSU does not come into the year going oh we are ranked to high that is what they expect. Iowa football could learn a lot from Iowa wrestling on how to play and perform with high expectations!! We go into every game 50/50 and you could see this coming the entire 4th period play with confidence and that comes from the top!!

I voted talent for the sole reason that we just don't have the backups to be the "next man it". this is where OSU has the edge, not necessarily with the starters, but the backups. especially having the backup center starting at guard and down to freshman LBs (though Morris has really stepped up.) my only beef with the coaches was going away from Coker after the 1st Q and then throwing the ball every play that second to last series. i feel like if we would have kept pounding them all game, by the end they'd be worn out. we'll never know.

but that is coaching. Sometimes you don't have the best talent to make the defense work.

So instead of trying to fit square pegs into round holes, you adjust your schemes to fit the personal that you do have.

When teams constantly dink and dunk the entire length of the field, maybe adjust and play some bump coverage. Can still play zone, but quit letting their WR have a free pass.

That is coaching. Look at OSU's coach, Tressel adjusts his scheme to the talent he has. With Pryor, they run a more open attack, almost option like at times because of his skill. Yet with some of the QB's in the past, they're even more conservative than Iowa!!!

I understand that this staff has a formula that seems to work very well at getting to 7-8 wins each year, and that's great. This year was a team that is much better than that, with a few small changes/adjustments i think we could have been there.

Not settling on a kicker early in the year, a lack of discipline on special teams coverage, mis managing the clock, brain farts on fake punt and punt blocks, and sitting players that have hot hands.

Those have all cost us games, or at least been a large contributor. That is on coaching. This team is good enough to recover from mistakes, but as soon as we do make a mistake, this team folds and is done.
