Clownie Juco Malou Opts For Draft Over Lames

That's awesome. For one thing it's one less good player for ISU. For another thing it's one good player staying in the draft that'll ensure Jok comes back...(not that I didn't think he wasn't anyway it's just one more notch is all)

I thought it was kind of fun to poke at the Cyclone's misery on this one for a bit, then I read up on the kid. Sounds like he has been continually shat upon his whole life and is more or less being forced to opt for the NBA. Getting a D1 scholly would have been great for him and a life changer. I will be rooting for him.

Guy basically has been screwed over ever since emigrating to the states. Feel terrible for him and I'd love to see something good happen for him in the draft.

I think it's actually Balou from JB. My daughter sings that Bear Necessities song all the time and now I can't get it out of my head again. Thanks.

They are gonna be severely hurting in the post. I'm sure Clown fans will claim those two transfers will help, but that's a joke. Both of them put up mediocre stats in awful conferences. If they expect to rely upon them at this level they are idiotic.

They will be a completely guard oriented team with little to no rebounding. I expect next year to be a rebuilding year for Iowa as well, but that match-up will be interesting. Totally different looking team.

It wasn't like ISU was this great rebounding team before. Every now and then when McKay decided he wanted to play other than that.....not so much. Niang wasn't a great rebounder. The last 2 or 3 years they have always been at the bottom of the conference in rebounding margin. It really isn't anything new.

I fully realize the lack of rebounding isn't anything new. However, the lack of offensive production from their bigs will be a shock. Niang and McKay both provided them with scoring options down low. Niang was their go to guy. Now they don't have a scoring option down low. Malou would have provided some offense that neither of their transfers will be able to provide. They won't even have a threat in the paint.

Their guards will be really good but they won't be able to rebound enough to be consistent and make a run. I had never heard of Malou though so I'm not sure what posts they have coming in.

True. Even though Niang like to hang out on the perimeter, he was definitely their go to guy. You are correct they are already in spin control with the 2 transfers coming in. "We will be able to compete with Kansas for the Big 12 title even without Malou........blah, blah, blah."

Merrill Holden and Darrell Bowie are their two incoming transfers. Here's their stats:

Holden is a transfer from Louisiana Tech who plays in Conference USA. He's 6'8 215 lbs forward. He'll be a senior. He averaged 8 pts, 5 rebounds, and 1 block last year as a Junior at LT. The previous season he averaged 1 point and 1 rebound in 6 minutes of play per game.

Bowie is another transfer from Northern Illinois (like Nader was). He's a 6'7 215 lb forward. He'll be a senior as well. He hurt his shoulder and used a medical redshirt last season, but in 2014-2015 he averaged 13 pts and 7 rebounds while playing for the Huskies in the MAC conference.

These guys will give them some size. Neither has great size, but they will at least fill what is a gaping void in the front court. Both have rather lackluster numbers considering what conferences they played in. I don't see either one of them coming in and making much of an impact at this level, but at least they provide a couple of bodies. That's as much as Prohm can hope for after losing Malou.

Do they have any HS recruits coming in or is Prohm like Hoiberg and only goes after transfers?

I think Prohm is doing what he can to plug a couple bodies in at this point. Seems like most Cyclone fans believe he'll use their remaining scholarship to try and land another transfer who will be eligible to play in the 2017/2018 season. They lose a ton of players next year. I think they'll have 6 or 7 open schollies so I imagine he'll target quite a few high school kids, but who knows. Transfers have been their thing.

So does this mean that they might actually get someone drafted this year? #rolodex #NBAfeederprogram
