Clone Fans: Please Read This Carefully

It should also be noted that there are approximately 18,000 U of I plates to 12,000 ISU plates.

Make sure we've nailed every nail in the coffin this go around.

What was the score of last years game? I live in a what have you done lately type of world.

do this with Iowa and Minny. would you call them better than Iowa? surely you wouldn't, but I'm guessing the numbers would be pretty favorable toward the gophers.

i don't think any rational ISU fan claims iowa state has a better history or anything like that. all that's being said is that the gap is being narrowed between the two schools.

Ok, lets take a look at the last 10 years. I think this should be a good time frame, as 12 years ago ISU had their best season ever with a 9 win team, and a victory in the Insight bowl (1st bowl win ever). They followed that with another bowl appearance, and ISU fans felt like McCarney had brought them to perennial winner status, and they would be battling for Big12 north title consistently. Iowa was down, and was coming off of 3 terrible years (3 wins, 1 win, and 3 wins). So basically the starting point to the last 10 years was ISU was at an all time high, and Iowa was at a 20 year low. Last 10 years stats are in red.

1. All-time wins: Iowa 595 Iowa State 498
Iowa 85 Iowa State 50
2. Conference titles: Iowa 11 Iowa State 0
Iowa 2 Iowa State 0
3. Bowl games: Iowa 26 Iowa State 11
Iowa 9 Iowa State 5
4. Bowl wins: Iowa 14 Iowa State 3
Iowa 6 Iowa State 2
5. AP Top 10 rankings: Iowa 12 Iowa State 0
Iowa 4 Iowa State 0
6. AP Toop 25 rankings: Iowa 22 Iowa State 2
Iowa 5 Iowa State 0
7. BCS bowl games: Iowa 7 Iowa State 0
Iowa 2 Iowa State 0
8. BCS bowl wins: Iowa 3 Iowa State 0
Iowa 1 Iowa State 0
9. Wins in the CyHawk rivalry: Iowa 39 Iowa State 20
Iowa 6 Iowa State 4[/QUOTE]

As you can see even with ISU being far ahead of Iowa going into the last 10 years, Iowa still blew away ISU in all relavant stats. It is hard to see where you might say that they have "narrowed" the gap, especially considering they were a better program going into the last 10 years....h*ll every Cyclone fan at that time (2000 & 2001) they would tell you Iowa's time was up, and this was a Cyclone state now!

No, no...Section136, it's time we've had this out once and for all. We can no longer hide the truth. It's time this discussion gets the full merit it deserves, President Obama, take it from here.

Yeah stevefrench the gap is closing. You do realize that we won a BCS bowl 3 years ago. All of the success we have had isn't ancient history like it is with minnesota. That was an awful comparison. ISU football needs to win something before you can say the gap is closing.

Its not closing cause isu is winning more, its cause Iowa is winning less.

All time winning % for Iowa = .531 (563-495)
Iowa winning % last 10 years = .669 (85-42)

All time winning % for ISU = .450 (478-588)
ISU winning % last 10 years = .403 (50-74)

Facts are funny things....they often make opinions seem a little silly.

It humors me that Iowa State fans think the gap is shrinking. Before this past season, hadn't Iowa outscored them by a ridiculous margin over the past couple years? Hell, they hadn't scored a TD against our first team D since like 2007.

Didn't you just admit the gap is closing?

There really are a ton of reasons why Iowa State fans should feel like little brother to Iowa. Here are the statistics:

1. All-time wins: Iowa 595 Iowa State 498
2. Conference titles: Iowa 11 Iowa State 0
3. Bowl games: Iowa 26 Iowa State 11
4. Bowl wins: Iowa 14 Iowa State 3
5. AP Top 10 rankings: Iowa 12 Iowa State 0
6. AP Toop 25 rankings: Iowa 22 Iowa State 2
7. BCS bowl games: Iowa 7 Iowa State 0
8. BCS bowl wins: Iowa 3 Iowa State 0
9. Wins in the CyHawk rivalry: Iowa 39 Iowa State 20
Wait you didnt mention the countless national championships?

FIFY. Iowa has been to 2 BCS games. 2002-2003 Orange Bowl & 2009-2010 Orange Bowl. There were no BCS games before 1998.

You're joking, right? One year does not make a trend. One year is not sufficient data to suggest the "gap" is closing.

If I didn't do it, Clone Fan was going to...better to make the comment in jest and head it off at the pass.

I have a hard time believing "the gap is closing" due to anything ISU has done.. and current recruiting over the last few years seems to indicate the gap will grow..

Not many Gopher fans frequent this board.

I dont even know why clone fans would be on this site anyway. I have only been on a clone site because of following a link from this site.

I just dont see the reason to read about the clones. I dont hate the clones, I used to follow them along time ago but have always been a big Iowa fan. Once the rivalry was renewed I have totally forgot the clones.

What do clone fans get out of being on HN?

The fall is on, will rival that of Hayden Fry.

Lol. I remember this same kind of talk back in 2006 and 2007. Iowa State had a new hotshot coach that was going to bring in all this talent, and Iowa State would become king. We all know what happened after that.

Iowa is setting up for a pretty damn good team in 2013. If the "gap" is still "closing" after the 2013 and 2014 seasons, maybe then I'll start to get worried. But I don't anticipate that happening.
