Just here but one doesn't require personal experience to know that to rise out of poverty in the US is much easier than any other one. I'm not in any way saying the US is perfect or we shouldn't be improving on things. I'm just saying it's not nearly as bad as some have been portraying.
Sorry didn't hit reply on that last response. And I apologize to everyone for the political rant. I'll stop.

It's easier for a government to control people when the people are oppressed. The people then have to rely on the government to support them and the people won't deviate from the ideologies of the government.
So the entire post except one sentence was negative towards the county and all that was great. Then he ends it with one good sentence about the country and that one positive comment sucked? Serious question here. Do you just hate everything about our country?
Yeah I tried to ask him his 2 cents worth as to why he feels what he said but instead of engaging he replied to my question with one of his own.... When one doesn't want to reply you can't make them... I wasn't trying to stir any hornets nests or change minds. Just gain his perspective and by not explaining what his is he kinda still did...

At this point, I'm not sure what the point of debating politics (or religion for that matter) is anymore. Neither side is going to give an inch and, if anything, will only dig their heels in further. What I've come to believe (accept?) in today's age is that both sides are equally shitty and we're all screwed because of it.
It was his wording that struck me. If he would have said "I agree with you up until this point", I wouldn't have thought much of it. But he said "you were doing so good up until this point". It sounds like he just loves hearing negative talk about American and hates hearing positive talk.
Both sides are right on some things and wrong on others. The only way you can be truly wrong if you are on either extreme side.

Sorry that your life is screwed. I'm not screwed. My life is great. If you feel everyone is screwed you might want to engage in some introspection and reorient your trajectory.

Not everything in life is self-centric....although I could see how, as a humanist, you might view that....I was merely referring to "we're" as in the citizenry as a whole....now back to our regularly scheduled broadcast....

The royal "we" is often invoked by narcissists. If things look bleak to you, that may reflect your choices more than a universal reality.
Let's be honest - walking in the wrong neighborhood can get you killed no matter your race. In fact statistics would seem to indicate you are about 4 times more likely to get killed in that neighborhood if you are black.
That is true. But I was referring to the white people who get killed (mugged or beat up) because they're white.
