Who has been more of a "pleasant surprise" than Frederick in Iowa BB history? If he keeps playing @ the same high level...absolutely. He has been an upgrade from Isaiah Moss and definitely a welcomed addition!

Agree, good comparison. One of my favorites.Baer, I wish he was on this team. From walk on to major contributor off the bench he was a pleasant surprise.

He is impressive. Watching a game...I want him to shoot every time he touches the ball!"Diamond in the rough." Maybe when he committed, and that's only a maybe. But he was literally the Gatorade Player of the year in Kentucky. He grew up around really high level basketball and his incredible shooting accuracy isn't unprecedented within his family. His uncle shot a career average of 49% from 3 while playing for some solid Notre Dame teams that featured Fran as an assistant coach. I'm willing to bet Fran had some idea what he was getting and Xavier, Indiana, Butler, Penn State, Nebraska, Michigan etc. all had an idea too.
Fran simply won the recruiting battle before it even started. Not completely dissimilar to what happens at the blue bloods with Krzyzewski, Tom Izzo, Roy Williams, and Bill Self.
Kyle Corver shot 43% from 3 his freshman year at Creighton and 45% for his career there. He's now in his 17th year in the NBA.Fredrick is shooting over 50% from the 3 point stripe, which is unheard of for a freshman. Am I crazy to think that he could become a 3 point specialist at the next level?
It always helps to "know somebody" in recruiting and life. A great "get" for Iowa.

Fredrick is such a pleasant surprise with his shooting, game understanding, and tenacity. I think it more pleasant given the many examples of hearing about "wow, wait till this guy plays in games, he is the best shooter in practice" and then is run of the mill in action.
For being inexperienced, he is really impressive. Lots of games to go, fun to watch. Get the ball to the shooters!

Anyone who is mobile and can shoot 50% from three point range is a potential NBA player. The game has changed.Fredrick is shooting over 50% from the 3 point stripe, which is unheard of for a freshman. Am I crazy to think that he could become a 3 point specialist at the next level?
