CJB and Rudock Not Allow to Talk to Media

Maybe...but it seems really like people are wanting them to say something specific. I haven't seen the videos so maybe it's more ominous and dramatic than I realize. Was it?

I think 99% of people assumed they would not have said anything noteworthy. Apparently Kirk is part of the other 1%, and that's the real story here. It's the truly bizarre behavior of Kirk that is driving the topic.

I don't believe either of them would have said anything dramatic or even interesting, and I don't necessarily want them to, either. But for ****'s sake, this is a ********* move by Ferentz.
CJ has always been gracious in interviews in the past. After the Purdue game he even said he and Jake were both competitive but are friends and there is no bad blood between them. I doubt either of them would have attacked the other one or said anything out of line. I'm sure the media would have tried to bait them with questions but neither kid is stupid and I don't think they would have fallen for it.

Closing off players to the media after a loss is pretty cowardly though. That is something done when you've lost control in some way. I think the losses are getting to Kirk and he's more than had it with the local media. You can tell he's getting more and more surley with them and even Moorhouse and Doctorman have stated they don't have a "warm" relationship with him.

kfootball didn't want them (CJ especially) talking about transfers. Mark Jones made a good point re: JR being 3 hrs short of graduating. kfootball might have to re-recruit both guys this offseason. JR is likely going to Med School at Iowa. But, does he play football if he isn't the starter?

Which is ridiculous. He gets treated with kid gloves here. He'd get roasted by local media if this were Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio State, etc.

I like most of the Iowa media guys and think they do a pretty good job covering Iowa. However, it would be interesting to see Sean Keeler back. That guy didn't give a rip who he ticked off or how. Steve Alford probably still has a doll of him that he sticks needles into before bed at night.

I guess I shouldn't phrase it like that. I like the job that Morehouse, Dochterman, Brown, etc. all do and they're all guys that I enjoyed working around. They aren't partial to Iowa's best interest by any means, but they also typically won't take a more aggressive approach like reporters at other programs might.

Some teams circle the wagons in times of adversity;
Ferentz sends out the Sheriff Ron and police to round up CJ Beathard.
I'd be shocked to see CJ in an Iowa uniform, again.

BFD... how many times do you need to hear a college athlete say, "we just didn't make the plays" or "just wasn't our day". For the most part, it's psuedo "journalists" that get their nose out of joint about a coach telling kids not to talk. Bloggers and message board owners are no different than all the rest of us....except they have spent a lot of money on an endeavor that probably will not last very long or make much in return, but yet makes them feel they are entitled to, oh hell, never mind. Who cares......

I'm not sure what game you watched today, but the "letting the coaches coach thing isn't working out too well"...neither is the playing part. If you don't think we have big problems you aren't paying attention.

Correct. Our coaches have not coached for some time now. Nothing ever changes.

Easy to say troll because I am not racing around my neighborhood with a pitchfork to attack the coaches. This is the same coach who made the same bone headed decisions a decade earlier and those decisions were glossed over because the program was thriving. Now, people want to call him Kurt and stoop to such childish behaviors because they aren't happy. In my world, getting the opportunity to watch the games is an opportunity to sit with my family and talk the game. It is a break from the daily stresses that come with work. I am a fan. I love iowa athletics. But in the whole scope of things, it is a game.

If it's just a game and nobody should care, then stop charging 60 f****** dollars for us to see it. Stop paying 3.5 million dollars to a buffoon to "allegedly" coach when you could get better or at least similar results from someone making $250,000.

It is a business first now. In what "game" do people get paid 4 mil a year. With that kind of investment people expect a return. The University is simply waisting money that could b better spent elsewhere. KF is killing the bussiness that funds other athletics/students. As much as he has done to build and maintain the brand, One could easily argue, he has caused the a university a ton of money with his decisions during an unprecedented period of growth int he sport. So in your opinion it is a game, ano although it started that way more than 100 years ago, it is now much more and effectively or CEOS and CFO have proven to be incompetent.

Good point, but I am not going to lose my mind over this. I am not saying a change isn't needed. I think it is unfair for people to scream fire him, incompetent boob, etc., etc. because I am not at practice. I don't know the evaluation structure of players at practice. I don't know how players respond to coaching criticism. So with all the unknown, I choose to sit and enjoy the game. I do think that we have a very limited roster of athletes. I do think the team has a very low football IQ. Of course, I have more thoughts but since I am not a pitchfork bearing wildman nobody cares.

Either players that actually give us a better chance to win games are wasting on the bench (that isn't the case as often as many here would like to believe, but it does happen in some cases), or the guys who just got ******* curb-stomped by a .500 team and made themselves look like complete circus clowns on national TV are really our best players.

I'm sorry, but that's beyond embarrassing, and it's time to make a change now. I have missed seeing/attending/listening to one Iowa football game since I was 12 years old; Iowa football was everything to me as a kid, even through 2005-2007, when I always managed to stay optimistic. But I'm not watching another game until Ferentz is gone. I've got better things to do with my Saturday's than watch ****** football and getting upset at it because I wish it wasn't ******.
