CJ Frederick could still be at Iowa and a huge part of our team

One thing about players from another team is they have inside knowledge on how you do things. It can be a pretty big disadvantage.
KF has been around forever and has had players come and go the whole time. Other coaches all have a good idea of the gist of how Iowa does things. Their aren't any KFC recipe level secrets being kept under lock and key. It's hardly an advantage if Boyle relays to his new team that Iowa on 3rd and 7 likes to run a screen pass or draw... We aren't curing cancer here just playing football. To be petty with a former player that's done nothing wrong but compete for 3 yrs and graduate is just wrong. Maybe he felt guilty by not giving him a real shot at playing QB...

Just reading the thread title. My thought is If CJ Frederick was a "huge" part of our team that would be a bad sign. He really isn't that good so you'd have to question the talent level if he would be huge for any major conference team. Huge for Austin Peay or some such but not huge for a B1G team.

CJ wasn't a Major Alpha Style of player but he was a factor on the floor

He had as reliable a three as anyone on the team, was dependable at crunch time

His defense was solid even though it didn't seem so

He played about 1/2 feet from the opponent and stayed with him with arms spread
and whomever he was guarding eventually would pass the ball

All that said, he falls into the Evil Bastard Realm

May he rot in Hell for an Eternity and a Half forever and ever

Solid but still not huge. Remember him more a factor against the easier opponents and more quiet against the stiffer competition. Could start but not expecting much from a team where he is huge as in the first or second guy you would mention. Not remembering as big in crunch time though. :)

But it's not though. They all seem to think it is and publicly act like it is. But these assistant coaches all bounce all over the place almost as much as the players do now. That's gone on forever. All these guys have a dang good idea of what the others are always doing. There's not many 'secrets' in the profession anymore. It's a cop out if you ask me and always has been. HCs just like to have control and flex their muscles. Iowa of all schools can't pretend to be worried about any schematic advantages... Iowa's probably the easiest team to scout from that standpoint over the years. So I don't buy that nonsense from KF or any other HC out there really.
