Christian Williams

I was wondering about this. He was hearing regularly from Minnesota, and I'm betting they were gonna offer soon.

Congrats to the young man, and welcome to the Hawkeye family!!!

So I'm assuming Fran's either going to bank the last scholly or (hopefully) find a JUCO/Transfer big man to step in and play immediately next year

Seems he is a combo guard, and can play some point.

If he's a combo guard I don't mind the offer. If he's a wing that can play a little bit of point, we already have a couple of those guys coming in. There isn't much tape of him out there. That doesn't mean it's a bad offer or bad get, he's just a bit of an unknown up to this point. I'll trust Fran's judgement though, he's had some nice hits in the under the radar types.

With 4 seniors next season, I don't see the point of banking the scholarship if he can find somebody that is able to help the team next season. Getting a big has to be the top of his list of priorities once the Hawk's season is done. 5th year transfer or JUCO would be ideal as long as they can play.

Really confused concerning recruiting strategy with this one. I thought he was going after JoJo Anderson harder. The only thing I can figure Fran is thinking is that someone who can play point but isn't a PG will cover us for 2016 when MG and Sapp are gone but won't be viewed as competition for a true PG recruit for that year.

Yes, we could really use another big for 2015.

Wow that is one impressive list of offers he has....no wonder Fran struggles with talent with the recruiting classes he keeps bringing in.....

this kinda surprises me. Iowa needs a big in the worst way. Woody cannot play 40 minutes a game and Uthoff can't play in the post.

I trust ya Fran, but I gotta say a little concerned.

Yeah Aaron White and his 1st team all big ten really stunk up the place. So did Gabe and his 6th man of the year award.

Kansas State and Minnesota were starting to sniff around. Don't downplay this kid just because he didn't have any other big school offers yet.

He appears to have a decent skill set and handles. The last highlight from the video posted below was pretty sweet.

From what I'm hearing Iowa may have found another gem who has tons of potential/talent. Has size and athleticism and can fill it up when he gets in a groove. I will take athletes like this over the Oglesby's of the world all day.

Welcome aboard Christian! Enjoy the ride! Hawkeyenation is glad to have you!

Nice, quick release on his jumpers, looks like a nice get that will become better after he gets knocked around a little and is used to bigger, quicker competition....Good job Fran

Anyone have any guesses on if Ellingson may transfer? Just wondering if Fran knows something, and knows he'll have one more Scholly to work with this spring for that JUCO or Transfer Big we all want. Thus, he feels the freedom to not pass up a chance to get this kid?

Iowa re-establishing recruiting ties in Illinois will hopefully continue to pay dividends with this class and future classes ... 3 Illinois kids. Regarding Williams ...

Williams is a good athlete with size at 6’6â€￾ with great length. He has a smooth perimeter game and can attack off the bounce and get to the rim where he converts or goes to the charity stripe. Williams is also a solid mid-range jump shooter. He makes quick cuts away from the ball and rebounds at a good clip for a guard. His passing might be his most underrated quality as he has a good feel for the game and makes sound decisions with the basketball.
