You can basically believe the kid or the coaches that can’t talk about it… Kids lie and coaches lie even when they can talk so who the heck amongst us knows where the truth is??

You know I'm an ISU fan, and I read an article this morning relating to a kid ISU is recruiting for basketball, with this quote in it:
“He’s a very busy guy, but Coach Prohm talks to me every other day, he checks on my family, checks on my girlfriend to see how she’s doing, he really wants me to be a part of this program and he’s doing all the right things to catch my attention,” Ewing said. “A lot of coaches don’t call my girlfriend. He does that to try to get that extra boost. I’m really cool with him. The first time I met him we clicked like that, you know?"
I mean if recruiting has now gotten to the point where people are calling kids every 2 days, calling their girlfriends...I mean I guess I can respect the effort but my god that just sounds awful to me.

Not defending Kirk and his staff one bit here, but to be fair, you have A LOT fewer recruits in basketball that you need to keep tabs on and keep in contact with.
This is spot on. Kirk messed this one up, no other way to spin it.

Yeah, KF refused to call the kid cause he is da lazy recruiter, don't cha know. True story.
Agreed, that's why I said "I know it's basketball". It just makes me wonder if that kind of thing is what kids want/expect. If so, I can't see Kirk being down for that at all, and I don't blame him one bit.

It's like his thought process is "We're Iowa, we don't beg for recruits. Please. The program should sell itself."
He either didn't recruit them hard enough after they committed or refused to adapt to how recruiting works nowadays. Either way if he doesn't take the blame who does?
His ego obviously got in the way in this recruiting cycle
