Since its bye week, I thought this would be a good time to check on Martin-Manley's status.

KMM now has 148 career receptions, curently in 5th place.

DJK has the all time record with 173. So KMM needs 25 more to tie, 26 to break it.

There are 7 regular season games left plus potentially some extra games too.

So KMM needs to average 3.5 catches per game to break the record in the regular season.

I think he has a good chance and will end up breaking the record against Nebraska on senior day.

I think he gets there. He is averaging 5 catches per game right now, I don't see that changing enough to keep him from the record. Barring injury of course.

Or actually gave 100% on every ball thrown his way. Or turned into a DB when a throw was in danger of being picked. Or a lot of other things.

When you think of all the great players Iowa has had over the years KMM doesn't quite make that list to me. Yet there he is the most consistent hard nosed team player they've ever had about to break a record like that. He's just a guy that is really easy to root for. I'm sure Ferentz loves him and I agree that's a record he'd love for him to get to knock DJK down a peg if nothing else. KMM is a Ferentz guy through and through. If he don't get it it'll be because he gets hurt. Cause he'll get 5-8 targets a game at the least.
