I think the amazing thing is how close Fran got to landing him.

Listen, I like Fran but the fact that he didn't get Jimmer, Cezar or Brust mean he knows what he's doing or that he can't close the deal very well? Think that's a legit question to ask right now.

With Brust, according to Spank, there were some things going on behind the scenes with Brust that Fran didn't care for. And with Cezar, considering how late we got in on him, it's kind of impressive that we even got a visit from him.

It would have been awesome to see Cezar choose Iowa. I still think Woody comes regardless. Who knows if Mike comes or not? I bet he would have too.

Tough to see a college like Iowa to a west coach recruit when the team barely wins double-digit games. It was the perfect storm to land him, though, huge crowd, big win over #6 Purdue, everything was set up for that visit. Not sure what Okie State did to get him there, but they got him.

I don't think this is any reflection on Fran's recruiting one bit. He hadn't even been in Iowa a full year yet.
