Cezar Article...Close to decision

"ESPN ranks Guerrero as the nation’s 23rd-best point guard, while Rivals.com ranks Guerrero as the nation’s 14-best point guard, No. 61 overall and the 10th-best crowd-pleasing player."

Seriously, who rates that?

Keep this in mind most of those sites are done in august and not updated.

I also believe it comes down to Iowa and Okie State. I don't see too many differences between us and Okie State at this point. But there is one major difference and that is the BTN. It would allow his family to see him play quite a bit more than playing in the Big 10/12/whatever it is now. The only teams that are televised in that conference, are the teams in the top 20 in the nation. Otherwise you better have FCS to watch any of the games.

Plus the Big Ten in general...first Iowa is averaging 12k in attendance and OKSt is maybe at 8k. The Big Ten has led the nation in attendance since they started keeping track in the 80's. Bottom line, outside of KU,the Big 12 is a football conference, first and foremost, with bb trailing far behind in fan interest, except for hard core bb fans, while the Big 10 is more of a balanced conference in terms of the fan interest in bb and football.
Finally, academics are better in the Big 10. And the BTN will allow Cezar to pursue broadcast work with hands on experience with 24 hr programming opportunities.

Big 12 games are televised on Channel 56 KDOC in the Los Angeles area. There
is a Big 12 doubleheader every Saturday starting at 11AM..

Time Warner the largest cable provider in SoCal does not carry the Big 10 network.
(of course you can still get it through DirecTV.)

If he goes to Miami, don't be surprised if they are added to the list. Not saying they would
be the favorite, but the 2 differences from Iowa and OSU is they are in a urban area, and warmer climate setting, which would be similar to Los Angeles.

Cezar has a chance to come to Iowa open up Iowa Basketball to an entirely new demographic...the ever growing hispanic community...I'm not sure if it would mean anything to them...but it definitely can't hurt.

I'm surprised, but I guess Time Warner isn't a large cable provider anywhere in Big Ten Country so that has something to do with it. Now like Comcast or those providers are in our area, so that is why they show it everywhere.

Never been to Cali, so I am unfamiliar with what is available there, so thank you for the clarification.

Are you talking about the growing Hispanic community in Marshalltown?

No problem, again I don't think he would pick Miami, but given that its going to be 82 in Los Angeles today, I don't think he is just going to simply do the spring break thing, he kind of lives it most months of the year.

That said, I don't think there has been anything official about him actually taking the trip to Miami, has there?

In terms of the Cowboys, unless they are telling him down @ OSU they think the school will end up in the Pac 12 in a couple of years, they really have nothing on Iowa in terms of what they can offer.

We shall see.

I was drafting my fantasy baseball team with Rob Howe tonight. Cezar called him. That's all I have on that front.

Nobody really commented on this comment by Spank and maybe I reading too much into it, but isn't this an indicator?

I don't follow the whole recruiting thing but is he calling OSU or other jounalists?

Serious question, I maybe reading too much into this.

Rob tries to get recruiting updates everytime someone visits. this is nothing unusual. Rob had mentioned on his site that he had a message in with Cezar and was expecting to get a call back to update the site. Don't read too much into it. I'm sure all the recruiting sites try to get updated articles all the time.

Just like football, with a month to go everybody is scrambling. Coaching changes have and will happen. I recall he has done 3 visits, he will burn 2 more. He could be easily swayed. He says decision is near. I bet we won't know until just before signing date and he will take all 5 visits.

He only has one visit remaining.

I would bet we know within 2 weeks.
