Cesar update

Just a note on former commit, Chance Creekmur of Marshalltown, who is now at Arizona State scored 24 points on Saturday and was 6-7 from the 3-point line. I remember he, too, had some attitude and legal issues.

He played in the second half. He looked out of control most of the time. I am happy with how things turned out after he turned us down.

Cesar played really quite well at times last night. He hustled his butt off and out worked ISU guards on several occasions. VERY fast. Athletic.

His offensive game was completely out of control. I was shocked how he failed to get Nash the ball when he was hot.

I think part of the reason he struggles is that he comes in for Keaton Page vs playing along side of him and being able to create him shots.

I must have missed him, I wasn't tuned in fully to the game.

It's easy to get lost in Fred's offense, which as I understand it invovles a 6-8 guy bringing the ball up the court and guys jacking up threes with 28 seconds left on the shot clock.

I pretty much forgot about that kid. Wasn't he kind of wishy washy on maybe playing qb too. even tho he's playing well I'm glad staff didn't risk it on taking him. I think Cezar will be pretty good down the road. He's quicker then a hickup. If he learns to share ball and the game slows down for him look out. That said I think next yr and going forward we are in good shape so I'm not too worried about it. Theres only one ball on the court and so many kids that can play at a time.

I won't pull a total sour grapes post here, because I definitely wanted him. But having him might have had serious repercussions regarding Gesell, Woodbury, and Marble. I'd rather take what we've got than roll the dice on Cezar at this point. Not because I don't think Cezar will be a good/great player, but because I'm that excited about what we're building without him.

+1. Sometimes things work out for the best, even if you don't see that at the time. I hadn't really thought about the Gesell/Woodbury/Marble angle but it's a valid consideration, and I think getting the first two and Dev's development at the point will pay huge dividends for Iowa in the future.

I have seen a few OSU games more by accident than choice and Guerrero plays 120 mph, which isn't always good for a PG. OSU signed a couple of big time guards for next year, so it would not surprise me if he ends up at New Mexico, ISU, or some other haven for transfers. It will be a coin toss whether OSU's coach survives the season, but knocking off Missouri last night may buy him one more year.

I doubt Washpun finishes his career at TN either based on his PT and the guys they have coming in next season. More 4 star guards on a team heavy at that position.

That would be funny if he ends up with Mayor Fred and playing 2 or 3 games against a team that supposedly was in his final two. Unless he finds a way to get his game under control, I would like our chances in that match-up.
