So was discussing with some people about Canzeri playing today and got these tweets from someone who is acquaintances of his:

@sienasoup 24m
Canzeri's not happy last yr w being jerked around w coming back from ACL; they were told more feature play this yr...

@sienasoup 24m
Canzeri's father is ready to ring Ferentz's neck...but it is a business...Jordan will be at Albany, wont have to sit

If this does hold true can't say I blame the kid or am the least bit surprised. This has been happening all to much with this program. If Kirk wants heavy doses of power backs and avoid any change of pace type backs why even offer these types of players (Garmon, Canzeri)?

can't blame him if true. He's better than bullock but doesn't get a chance. He's apparently 4th team now.

Cry me a river. It's not like he rips off 15 yds a carry. KF has quite a few more pressing issues to deal with.

this is nothing more than just math....with Daniels clearly in their plans and I think he could get to where he rotates with Weisman, somebody is likely to leave at the end of the year...and Canzeri to a smaller level (only because he won't have to sit out since he burned his shirt) makes most sense...I hope it doesn't happen.

Agree ... total waste of play making ability and speed that we need. This will not be the last transfer by any means.

Meh. Next fan in TavernHok.

Don't need.

Don't want.

Oh noes, not Albany. This Iowa team is at least 6 points better than Albany.

Math. Please name a year where we needed the 4th string RB. Has never happened. Lost some RBs in 2004 but O'Keefe revamped the O. If we lose a bunch of dudes it ain't no thang.

Yawn. If he's not as good as Bullock, then good riddance. If he is better, then time to showcase your talents in the Big South, kiddo. RB is absolutely dead last on the list of problems facing this team.

I think if our offense was better we wouldn't need Weisman at RB and he could go back to FB and it would make a lot more sense to have someone like Canzeri start with Daniels as 2nd string (for now). That being said, they're obviously using Weisman because of the same logic that they used Vandenberg last year. Explanation: "He gives us the greatest chance to win." << That is the Ferentz explanation, not mine... but it's clearly the reason why they were using him so much today. I almost feel bad for how many carries he had to take today, absolutely insane workload. He's a talented player but he was being overused today.

Hope he don't leave but 4 rbs = not a lot of carries. I would rather he make the most if his carries and earn more time.

I agree it is bound to happen Jon but was thinking maybe Hill or Malloy but like I was discussing one of the things that make Iowa so easy to gameplan against is because they provide no other dynamic to the run game other than "between the tackles." I love me some smash mouth football but with a lack of creativity a change of pace type player can help open things up a bit. Not saying Canzeri should run from a power set but by giving him the ball in space could help this team in some way. If they aren't going to utilize this type of player I fail to understand why offer at all only to have them get frustrated with how they are used and cause attrition on a team that isn't loaded with talent to begin with and give Iowa a bad image with recruits who could provide a change of pace.

He was used 30 times cause he was, by far, the most effective. Bullock has a place but I don't like when he always bounces outside instead of getting positive yards. I would like to see Canzeri get about 5-7 carries and more if he's effective.

There is no way iowa can get that bullock beast out of the starting line! He breaks way too many tackles, and his nose for the End Zone is second to none!!!! Can man should go to SIU to replace whats his name!!

To the idiot that wants to move Weisman back to FB, he now has 3 of the top 30 rushing performances IN THE HISTORY OF IOWA FOOTBALL.

If true, what a waste. I don't blame the kid either if he leaves. The kid can fly and Iowa' s block head staff cant figure out a way to utilize him. I know Iowa is just stacked with burners on offense so I could see how they're struggling to find a way to get him on the field.

What I don't undertand is why isn't he getting a chance on special teams? In high school Canzeri was an awesome punt return specialist.
