Can we get just get a little optimism going?

I understand everyone's frustration with they way this team is playing, specifically the offense. The season isn't over and we have some very important games left. With the bowl game still in reach and even our division is wide open, we have got to believe in this team. I get they haven't shown much to believe in, but they are Hawks. They know they are playing bad and they are working to try to turn it around. Let's get a little optimism going because all this negativity and numerous threads about the backup are getting to be a bit much (I've contributed). We all know what happened against PSU. Let's think about NW.

Good idea, Kurt owns NW, we should have no problem with them..oh wait.

Good luck, like with poster above, some fans prefer to wallow in sorrow for the entire week.
Me? I am like you...the sun did come out today, and this is still college football....every saturdays is a new day, with upsets always possible. Iowa was 11 pt underdogs to MSU two weeks ago and beat them, and now we are 6 pt dogs this week and a win is impossible? No.

I'm optimistic we won't get embarrassed at home this weekend.

How can you have any optimism after watching JVB play last year & this year?

The good news is that JVB actually moved up to 117th place from 118th in NCAA passing efficiency rating after Penn State.

5-6 against NW and 2-3 at Ryan Field. They have really owned us huh?

Blow the dust out of your sarcasm detector; obviously not working properly.

But I agree. Enough of the negativism. Win or lose, let's go Hawks!

And it may not seem like it, but he's making progress.

Sure! We get to do this all over again next year with a brand new quarterback with (likely) no in-game experience.

Get excited!

How is that for optimism?? Wooo!

Played them 11 times under KF and won just 5, I would classify that as owned.. Last 7 games, Iowa has won 2 that is beyond owned..

I wouldn't agree with your definition of 5-6 as being owned. That said winning 2 out of the last 7 would probably classify itself as such.

Honestly, I think we all expect growing pains from a growing QB, not a 5th year senior. I haven't given up on us yet this year and will worry about next year next September.

We can believe all we want. The problem is that Kirk doesnt believe. He never trust his players. His game plan is to try not to lose. Hard to have a confident QB when Kirk is frightened of everything.

If you consider talent levels HH then yes Fitz owns Kirk.

Northwestern is 107 in pass defense. Battle of the Titans

I think we have every chance to win Saturday. Not only that, we are 4-3 not 0-7. We can still get hot, get on a roll.and fight for the division. We need 2 of the next 3 and then go in and upset Michigan. Clearly if we play like we did against PSU, we have won our final game of the year.

We need to play tough, like the Central Michigan game and let the cards fall where they may. I'm psyched!

What season you been watching. If Iowa plays like they did against NIU, ISU, CMU, PSU, MSU and the 2nd half of the Minnesota game they clearly won't win at Northwestern, at Michigan, at Indiana and Nebraska.. They might be able to get away with it against Purdue if the team that lost to OSU and Notre Dame doesn't show up..

The Hawks usually win when we expect them to get crushed, and lose when they are playing someone awful, so you never know, maybe they will come out guns blazing this weekend, NW has nowhere near the defense of MSU and PSU. And more optimism....JVB will not be the starter next year.
