Can we get just get a little optimism going?

NW will roll by 20. Penn state gave them the formula to do it. Now all they have to do is execute offensively.

I'm passed the point of being pessimistic. After a performance like that at home, coupled with games like Iowa State and CMU, I'm really just interested to see how this wild ride ends. Can't get mad anymore because my expectations are pretty low. If something good happens, then I'm happy and cheer, if somethign bad happens, it'll be par for the course this season. The difficult thing is this, outside of Mark Weisman (now becoming this year's cliche bright spot) this team really hasn't show anything to be excited about. On paper, we have a good O-Line, a 5th year starting QB, 2 experienced receivers (Davis/KMM) and a huge TE with future star written all over him. Yet, our offense cant do ANYTHING. Our QB cant find anyone open further than 5 yards downfield, CJF is definitely not used to his potential. With the emergence of a running game you'd think that our O would be competent at the lesat. Turns out you'd think completely wrong. I'm still behind our guys 100% but to keep trying to be really optimistic about this team is taxing to say the least.

That's so true, **** for all we know we could run the rest of the Legends and lose to Purdon't and find ourselves in a batte royal with Bret and a N1G championship and a big f#cking bull. How's that for optimism?

Fitz is a better leader than Kirk, and quite frankly NW is a better program than Iowa these days. It will likely show Saturday.

Now, should everyone be positive? Be a fan, sure, but don't be silly. This is just where the program is right now, like it or not, and Kirk is compensated quite well to take the responsibility for the results. If you had your choice of coaches, which of the two would you take?

Fitz hands down.

Fitz says the same thing every year before the game: Iowa is easy to prepare for because you know what they are going to do and they don't throw any wrinkles at you.

Kirk is a great coach and will have a masterful game pla. Vandenberg will have a great day. Hawks win.

Thanks for the thread. Reading thread after thread of slobbering hate disgust was getting a little tiring.
It appears we are in the minority here (the optimistic). I flushed last wkends turd Monday morning (I extended the 24 hour rule).
NW, Indiana, and Purdue are not run stoppers. That gives me hope. Jordan Cotton is showing a lot of promise. That gives me hope. Mark Weisman is getting healthy. That gives me hope. The D had played well most of this year. That gives me hope.
As for JVB... It can't rain all the time.
I could go on...

I try to be optimistic about any upcoming game so...Northwestern's defense isn't good. Especially the pass defense. If there is any game the rest of the year where we can throw the ball, it's this one (well, maybe Indiana). The defense has to be ****** about last weeks games effort and while I doubt they shut down Northwestern, they can keep them in check, giving us a close, 24-20 road win.

6 wins away from sniffing roses. LET'S DO THIS!!!!

I legitimately believed this team could of won the legends division if they stayed healthy. Unfortunately, the best thing going for the offense was gutted the last 2 weeks. With that said, if the Hawks are tied or within a possession going into the 2nd half I think they'll win the game still.

I just don't care anymore. I have no expectation of Iowa going into the game Saturday and even competing with NW. Whatever happens, happens. I was mad after that disgusting CMU game....and even the crapfest that was ISU. But after the PSU debacle...eh.

And not a lot to look forward to next year either, on a bright note...Fran has the hoopsters rolling...they might not make it this year...but next year...they are going to be taking names in the BIG.

Technically, they are still in the running for the Legends.
Expect to see the Hawks come out swinging mad!

I understand everyone's frustration with they way this team is playing, specifically the offense. The season isn't over and we have some very important games left. With the bowl game still in reach and even our division is wide open, we have got to believe in this team. I get they haven't shown much to believe in, but they are Hawks. They know they are playing bad and they are working to try to turn it around. Let's get a little optimism going because all this negativity and numerous threads about the backup are getting to be a bit much (I've contributed). We all know what happened against PSU. Let's think about NW.

This is as bad as i've seen things on here for a while. I actually understand it as it's not necessarily the current struggles but the lack of optimism for the future, which always comes when you start to lose...especially when you lose badly. I think we are a few key players, and a few guys back from injury....to better days.

Honestly, I think the Oline injuries is more foreboding for most of us than anything else, as the ONE thing that has remained consistantly pretty darn good for many years has been Oline play.

However, until no longer mathimatically possible for 6 wins, I will believe we can win 6 (or more...??yikes) wins.

Go Hawks ! fight back against the adversity !

Not only were we trounced Saturday night....we lost Two Olineman...

I don't know how any of you can be optimistic.
